Hi All

Just wanted to check if there's an easy way to get ndroid on the Kinde Fire HD? I'd rather not hack my device, and I couldn't find it on the Amazon app store. Any chance of making it available on Amazon, or is tat a headache?

Cheers!

Just looking in to publishing on the Amazon Appstore now although there are a number of stages to go through.

One possible gotcha is I have to submit the app for approval (unlike Google Play). I'm not sure what the approval process consists of but if it involves full testing, things would get complex as nDroid obviously needs a NextPVR setup to actually do anything. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

I'd never heard of it before you mentioned it but looking at the web-site it looks to just be a front-end app for a selection of Google Play apps. Basically a filter managed by the 1MobileMarket people to cut out the dross on Google Play. If you download using it you're effectively just re-directed to Google Play anyway. Unless I'm not understanding it correctly.

Amazon would work for me, also. Thank you for looking into it.

Well I made it through all of the stages and I seem to have successfully submitted nDroid for approval. I'll make an announcement if/when it goes through.

Cheers,

Wow Brian, thank you very much! I hope Amazon does accept the app, but let me also take the opportunity to praise your software. I got a Nexus 10 2 days ago. Downloaded the nPVR service and the ndroid app, started it up, and it worked 1st time! The only problem is that the Nexus 10 is so new that none of the video apps support HW decoding so they can't keep up. I read that the Kindle Fire HD video apps are working well (wife has the Kindle) so am hoping I can get that one up while the Nexus 10 matures.

Thanks again for writing this, NextPVR is superb as is but the community addins really make it shine.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I keep promising an update "any day now" but having moved house last week (for the second time in 3 months) things are totally screwy here (think boxes...many, many boxes  ) and I'm currently using USB tethering from my Android phone to my PC as my cable broadband won't be connected until next week. All good fun. Wink

Agreed, sub does a great job with NextPVR and the ability for all of the skinners and developers to add enhancements really does make it shine.

Cheers,
Brian

PS: The app is still listed as "Under Review" on my Amazon Appstore account. If there are any problems I'll argue my case otherwise I'll try and find workarounds.
