Hello, I'm new to using NPVR need help getting TV guide up and running I followed the procedure here on this site mc2xml. I did everything fine up to the point where it says to 4.Click IMPORT.
I did exactly as it said to do but my version of NPVR doesn't have any import option for TVguide.xml. Also when it created my 4th file it wasn't calledTVguide it wasa different name I had to rename the XML to TVGuide.

Without a working listing I can't do any scheduled recordings.

Is the input signal to your tuner digital or analog? Digital is likely to be ATSC or QAM with the coax plugged directly into the tuner. Analog might be via a set-top-box with the STB connected to the tuner? I'm told that some US cable is still analog (so that might be via coax plugged into the tuner). If you are receiving digital, then you you need to map channels as described here ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Channels (the import option in the mc2xml page is for analog).

Hi safesinger, when I installed NPVR in December, setting up mc2xml was the greatest difficulty I faced. I eventually succeeded, but I'll tell you up front that SchedulesDirect would probably be much easier. It's natively supported by NPVR, very cheap (albeit not free), and perfectly legal. The Wiki instructions for mc2xml are baffling at times as I recall. Assuming that you wish to proceed, my first concern is that you say your xml file was not named TVGUIDE. Is it a large multi-MB file as it should be? I suggest that you delete it and try again. You'll need a good TVGUIDE file before mapping digital channels as Graham mentioned.

If at least one of your devices actually is analog, then in Settings/Devices you must first select that device before clicking Import Channels (which is otherwise greyed out). You're running 2.6.2, right?

I'm connected to TV Tuner by Coax. My provider is Verizon Fios Cable. Pretty sure it digital. Thank you for the quick replies looking into the link given now. I appreciate it greatly.
