Martin,

I have had 2 Popcorn A-100 running MVPMCX2 with NVPR for several years and system is 100% reliable as long as the .ts timeline is ok. However, from time to time recordings end up with a corrupt time line and the MVPMCX2 goes totally unreliable. The file is most of the time playable but any ffw/skip operation results in a black screen requiring a hard reboot.

I have more or less learned to live with this but it is so annoying to otherwise such a perfect setup I thought at least I could ask if there is any solution or workaround to this?

A hardware player is much more susceptible to file issues in files than an HTPC would be. Think what a fingerprint can do to a dvd or cd. In relative terms I find my PC host and client crash/hang on bad files more than my NMT did but they I can get out of by killing the task and with a remote only I'd be sunk. I can pretty much hang any current hw player with the "right" mkv, ts or avi file.

If the problem is just a bad timeline and not a bad stream caused by bad reception, then it probably is not really bad, it's just that the broadcast stream is not transmitted to be navigated as is. In a perfect world sub could remux it as it is captured, and avoid many problems, but that usually isn't necessary. It is better though and it is one of the reasons that some people on gbpvr is that they prefer the stability of the mpeg or dvr-ms muxing at capture time. You might be able to had your own remuxing to post processing if you feel it is worth the effort.

To get back to NMT specifics some suggestions

- avoid he-aac file there is very little error checking in the logic I added because I hacked support it.
- avoid short-skips especially back/forth jogging on SD files since they try to play directly in the demuxer.
- play from fast drives since the NMT can have issues if the tail starves waiting for data
- reduce the osd interval as much as possible, nextpvr sends screens faster than possible.
-provide samples of files when possible if you can a repeat a problem You can use writeTime to provide me some file info. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post456281

Another potential solution is to create a watchdog in the npvr.cgi script and if gaya an mvpmcx2 aren't running, relaunch mvpmcx2
