I'm setting up 2.6.2 on an older Windows XP system with an HDHomeRun dual tuner (NOT Prime).
When I scan for channels in Device Setup, I'm getting no channels.

Just as background, I set up a Windows 7 PC on the same network and have NPVR and the HDHomeRun working fine there, so I'm familiar with most of the setup steps.

Back to the XP system:

The HDHomeRunSetup and HDHomeRunGui runs ok and sees all the channels

I've added NDigitalHost, NextPVR, NRecord to the Firewall exception list. Further, I've turned off the Firewall entirely.

Here's a fragment from the log when scanning for channels in NPVR:

Code:
<tuning>
  <type>ATSC</type>
  <locator>
    <physical_channel>4</physical_channel>
  </locator>
</tuning>

2013-09-08 18:46:31.515    [DEBUG][1]    Frequency has changed, so stopping recording from previous frequency. (Handle 70)
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [DEBUG][1]    whoosh whoosh
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [DEBUG][1]    Calling LockChannel()
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [DEBUG][1]    locked=0, present=0, strength=33, quality=0   (took 0ms to check)
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [DEBUG][1]    File size is 0 bytes (non-existant)
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [INFO][1]    DigitalRecorder.StartStream() allocated handle: 0x47
2013-09-08 18:46:31.843    [INFO][1]    DigitalRecorder.StopStream() handle: 46
2013-09-08 18:46:36.859    [INFO][1]    DigitalRecorder.StartStream(c:\nowhere\null.ts)

I'm assuming it is seeing this channel (strength=33) but did not record a sample.

I'll attach the entire log.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Its still like the typical firewall problem we see. ie, locked=1 indicating driver knows the HDHR has locked onto a signal, but no data ever delivered.

I'd double check those firewall settings. Also, some antivirus software packages act as a firewall as well, so you might need to check those too.

in the hdhomerun driver setup, try changing the application setting to "Other ATSC/QAM" and see if you can scan that way. You may have to reset it back to "NPVR" for normal use.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried the "Other ATSC/QAM" setting and that DID allow NPVR to find the channels.

However, I was unable to view LiveTv or schedule a recording. Attached is another set of logs.

This pc struggles to display the video even in the native HDHomeRunGui. I don't plan on viewing the videos directly from this PC - I'd like to use this as simply a recorder and then view the files via DLNA on a PS3.

Anyway, any more suggestions would be appreciated.

You really should have include all the logs but it looks like the Recording Service is either off or firewalled.

Ok, I restarted the Recording Service and now I can record programs.
I can't play them back on NPVR because the video will not render. I can copy the *.ts file to a Win7 machine and it plays ok.

LiveTV is almost working since I get audio, but no video.

So I think my problem now is the video renderer.
Again, this is XP Pro. I've tried the VRM7 and 9 options and none of them worked.

I installed the SAF codec pack.

Any pointers on what codec or renderer choices I should make?
