We've been using standby a lot more recently, but one of the annoying things that's been happening is that when the PC comes out of standby NPVR is fullscreen and in focus (as it should be), but once a video is started (or Live TV), then the Windows taskbar appears over the display.

NPVR doesn't lose focus, and it doesn't happen every time, but it's certainly more than 50% of the time. The only way I've found to get it to draw on top again (short of a kill/restart) is a *right* click of the mouse to force the popup menu to appear.

NPVR is launched initially with -ontop not that it seems to help in this case.

Anyone else seen this?

In the distant past (Vista Pre Windows 8) I seem to remember this problem - I think it was something in the notification area trying to display a message - reclock AnyDVD ffdshow or something like that - the message would be invisible because of the -ontop command but the taskbar would have moved to the top. I think the culprit had an option to disable notification messages or something in the customize notification area helped.

Since windows 8 I have had a problem with the [use green button to start NPVR] causing NPVR to start full screen behind the taskbar and Rocketdock (set to always underneath) From any shortcut (without -ontop) it works fine - I've just installed LM Remote again so that it can start NPVR then make sure it is on top and in focus.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

That's as good a theory as any, and one I'll need to investigate more closely. Thanks!

are you using SAF with/or ffdshow? If so that's probably the problem. Tell ffdshow to not display the icons in the notification bar...it took a while for me to figure that out. You'll have to do it for the audio and video filter.

As SAF author, i never seen this issue on my PC and HTPC Smile.
If you put HTPC to sleep, video should be stoped first = graph should be destroyed = no filters isons should be active.

I bet there is some process which start after resume and it stole the focus.

No, ffdshow isn't being used.

I've turned off notifications for everything, and so far haven't seen it happen again. When I've more time I'll test the various icons running one by one and see if I can find the culprit - assuming it is one of them; it's only been 24 hours after all, and maybe we've just been lucky.
