Hi,

I just made a fast plunge in the PVR world. I happened to buy a KNCONE DVB-C Plus card. I tested it with Media Center 2005 and to my suprise I found out that it does not work with it. When I asked KNCONE support they answered that MCE2005 does not generally support DVB-C cards due to legal reasons (PayTV).

Now I am looking for a software which supports this (or other C) card.

Can somebody shed some light in this matter as I am confused why all T & S cards seem to be OK but C cards not.

I have only so far investigated SageTV, Meedio (which actually sees the driver but does not do anything), GAM.

Sorry, GB-PVR also does not support DVB-C.

Thanks SUB,

Is there any reason why DVB-C cards are so unsupported?

We have a lot of cable homes in Finland but maybe other formats are more popular in central Europe?

My reason for not supporting it, is because we dont have DVB-C here in New Zealand so I have no way to develop support for it.

Well,

I see your point :-)

Earlier I was under impression that basically the cards (T,S &C) are the same. Also I thought that everything works through driver APIs. Well that only shows that I am no programmer :-)

They are very similiar and probably share 90% in common, but that last 10% still needs quite a bit of work and experimenting to get it going.
