sub Wrote:I could look to add some optional feature in the next release, which could be turned. What would you want shown though? some icon in the corner, different color text, or different color background on those shows, or something else?

I would very much like to see the ability to display some sort of a "new" indication in the guide grid. I think that my preference would be for a small icon. Background colors are already used to indicate genre as well as selected and scheduled recording. If you change the text color then you can start running into problems with readability against the various background colors. Another possibility would be to use italic text for new shows.

Whatever method is used in the grid display, it would be nice to have a small icon displayed in the details section under the grid. I would also like to see the SxxExx info in the details section under the grid. (Can we already do that by changing the default skin?)

Thanks all for your replys. It is very nice to finally get a forum that actually answers the questions you ask.

sub, if I could get anything I wanted it would be some icon/s in the corner that indicate if it is new,if it is HD, and the tv rating. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how hard that is. At a minimum if it is NEW.
Thanks for anything you could do.

Do you mean in the corner of each show in the grid? Looking at it now, there isn't actually of space. The text usually fills the majority of each show rectangle, so I'd need to use some disproportionally small indicator icons.

I'm about to get on a plane, and head to a conference for the next week, but if you guys want to mockup a screenshot of what you're thinking, I'll see if I can add something when I get back.

This patch should give you this.

when did the * at end go away? i've been using for years...but seems it's no longer is ignored in searches ['find more' on a non-* doesn't show the ones with a * too, making it harder to search for new episodes of a show if no starred ones available to start search with]

it seems italics would be way to go if it looks ok in grid [sometimes italics can be ugly font] without taking any space.

sub, thanks for the patch, nice.

As far as the new show, as BrettB said you could use a different font or maybe can you surround the show(box) with a different color that would be selectable.
Will see if I can get some pics for you.

I don't believe that native GBPVR or NextPVR ever put the * at the end. Before NextPVR had built-in support for "new" only recurring recordings, I used UltraXMLTV to add the * at the end of new episodes and then scheduled the shows with the *. When Schedules Direct last made its changes, I switched to just using the NextPVR built-in Schedules Direct support so no longer have the option to modify the guide data before NextPVR loads it. It hasn't been too big of a loss other than the visible "new" indicator in the guide grid (i.e. new show names no longer have the * at the end.)

you can still modify SD data if you use mc2xml to download it...built-in SD doesn't allow options..
i knew i was adding the *, but the processing that allowed it to be ignored in searches seems to have vanished at some point..
[or more to the point, searches[find more] use to match on the beginning of a title and return anything that had the title at the beginning..so a search for 'House' would turn up 'House' and 'House *' so i could findall on a rerun, and find the new shows...
i tried the config setting of 'match start of title' but it didn't make any diff..
