Not detecting local QAM channels

Hi Folks,

Just upgraded to Windows 10. First time setting up NextPVR. I installed SAF 6, DirectX 9, and am using zap2xml for EPG. I'm also using Kodi as a frontend which works fine. I can watch all the cable channels fine (CNN, ESPN, MTV, HBO, etc.), but all local channels are not working. I tried both the ATSC and QAM scanners, and tried scanning using all the different presets. Any advice?

When you say 'not working', are they found but not working, or not found?

Are you sure these channels are available on your cable network as Clear QAM? ie, do they show up in HD in any other software, like the software that came with the device? Maybe they're only available as analog channels?

Thanks sub for the reply and all your hard work on the program. They're not found at all, they don't show up during a scan, and where I live they are Clear QAM. They show up on WMC in Windows 7. Such a strange problem!

What are the names of some of these local channels, and what channels numbers are they broadcast on? This would give me a clue where to look in the logs.

Sure, they're on these channels:
2.1 - KCBS(2)
4.1 - KNBC(4)
4.2 - KNBCDT2
5.1 - KTLA(5)
5.2 - KTLADT2
5.3 - KTLADT3
7.1 - KABC(7)
9.1 - KCAL(9)
11.1 - KTTV(11)

On QAM, they'd typically transmitted on different physical channels than their logical numbers. For example, you might find half of those channels are transmitted on channel #84. Do you happen to know what physical channel numbers they're on? ie, it's very unlikely that 2.1 is transmitted on channel 2.

Hi Sub,

So I went back to Windows 7, and installed WMC. I can't find the physical addresses, but when I go to edit sources, I noticed that only the local channels are using QAM64, where the rest of my cable channels are using QAM256. I tried messing with the Tuning\QAM ini files, but had no luck. In NextPVR my AVerMedia h826 Hybrid TV BDA Tuner only has ATSC and QAM as tuning devices. I can confirm that I see the local channels in WMC, but not NextPVR. Thanks again for trying to help me out.
