I have a dual tuner setup for satellites 23.5E and 28.2E.
Did an initial full scan on my first tuner, clicked 'yes' to copy over the scanned channels to my other tuner.

  1. If I click scan again, it starts from 0 and scans all possible transponder locations for channels?
  2. If I would download the sat ini files from satellites-xml.eu and place them in "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-S" I still need to scan for channel changes in NPVR?
  3. Scanning for channel changes is done through "Devices>Device Setup>Scan"?
  4. What happens if I delete all other satellites from "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-S" and only keep '0235.ini' and '0282.ini'? Shorter scan times?
  5. Correct that if I want to add a channel I need to do a full scan again and select it? (No way to quickly enable/disable channels?)

1. yes
2. yes - these only contain lists of frequencies the satellite uses, not the channels themselves. You'd need to scan to find channels on those frequencies/
3. yes
4. you can delete the files if you want, but it'll only make the drop down list of satellites smaller. The speed just comes down to the number of frequencies it needs to scan in the satellite ini file you have selected, and how many of those you can receive in your location (ie, ones you can't receive take longer).
5. when you rescan, it'll auto update channels you already have (and just show them greyed out), and only show new channels in black.

Rescanning isn't handled particularly well - you'd need to do this on each tuner. You only get this opportunity to copy channels to other tuners when setting up tuners for the first time. It's something I hope to revisit in a future release.

A good trick is to only do new scans on one tuner, then delete the channels from the remaining ones - you'll then get the prompt to carry over the channels again.

Yep, that's a good suggestion.

That does ot always work since tuners can have different sensitivity, a marginal channel one tuner can receive fine can be crappy on another tuner. I'v seen this a lot with usb tuners.

Thanks for the tip. Because I have identical tuners I think it will work just fine in my case.

When you work on improving the scanning procedure I suggest you add a progress bar showing progress based on amount of transponders scanned vs transponders available on selected satellites.
