Hi All,

Been a long time reader/lurker and have gotten virtually all my questions answered from the wiki or forums, but recently I've discovered something that has stumped me.

I am running the latest version of NextPVR, and the SAF decoder pack is installed. Everything is working perfectly except for two channels... History and Comedy.

In NextPVR, when I try to watch the History channel, it just stays on the guide, everything seems to freeze, but I can hear the audio. Video never comes on, I am just looking at the guide screen with the History channel selected and 'Watch' clicked. Thats it - no video, but I do get the audio. The really strange thing is, that if I load up Kodi using NextPVR as the PVR add-on, I can tune to the History channel, it is green for the first second, but then it comes on, video and audio, no problems. Kodi seems pretty normal, but in NextPVR, It does take a while to get to that point - probably close to 30 or 45 seconds to even hear the audio. Much slower than tuning to a working channel. Makes me wonder if this is some type of a buffering issue, but only on two channels doesn't make much sense to me.

Comedy channel is even worse - it won't pull up video or audio. In Kodi, it freezes up everything and I get a message saying that NextPVR is no longer running, and I have to exit out and back in to get back to normal.

Everything else seems rock solid - recording, live TV, EPG, etc etc. I am really loving NextPVR, but I do enjoy the History channel quite often, and don't really like having to open up Kodi each time I want to view it. Comedy central I could pretty much care less about, but I am guessing it may be the same type of an issue, so wanted to at least provide that info as well.

Any ideas? I am not at the HTPC currently so cannot grab logs, but if anyone things that would help, I can get that done tonight.

Thanks in advance!

is this only when you watch live tv, or also when you try to watch a recording made from those channels?

I set up a recording last night but haven't had a chance to check it - totally forgot after falling asleep on the couch Smile I will check this evening and report back.

Well I'll be.... I can indeed record something and it plays back perfectly! But live TV is a no-go. Very odd.

Also, something different just happened when I tried to watch History channel live. Instead of being stuck on the guide screen frozen and hearing audio, I got a black screen instead, and still heard audio.

when playing a recording from each problem channel, hit ctrl-O and report the details listed.

also post logs after playing the recordings and then also attempting live tv on each channel. don't worry about which logs to post, post them all (use the handy button in Settings->General)

I seems that Taddict and I have the same problem. I've posted my issues in the thread "Another Live TV Blackout." I tried what you suggested about the ctrl-O keystroke but all it did was stop the playback. I checked the log but it looked like no new information was recorded.

Do I need to set a switch beforehand?

And where is the "handy button in Settings->General" you suggested for posting logs? I running 3.6.6 but don't see it.

Thanks...

Sorry. seems I was just a bit off last night...

the key in question is Ctrl-I, not Ctrl-O. it shows the video codec type being used and also the resolution... not sure why it doesn't show the Audio stream info as well, but it's the video stream info I'm after anyway.

the button for zipping logs is in Settings->About (the first page of settings; I just forgot that the first page is called About and that General is the second page)

Sorry for the long delay - had some work and family issues came up and this had to take a back seat...

So, more weirdness. I checked the History Channel recording with CTRL-I, came up with MPEG-2 and 1920X1088, 29.97fps. But here is where it gets weird. I just tuned to History Channel live, and it works like a charm now! ??? Ok, no idea what happened or why, but History Channel issue seems to have resolved itself.

Comedy channel is still another story. I recorded a program and went back to watch it, and get nothing. It doesn't even play anything, it's like the recording is half a second long - it just ends immediately. Cannot tune to live Comedy channel either - just stays on the guide screen, or if I try to go channel up from the lower channel, it just freezes there.

Logs attached. Any hints or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

comedy channel is probably flagged copy-once, which means it won't be usable in nextpvr (or any other software aside from Windows Media Center). there should be a way to check that in the ceton software.

Thank you sir! I'll dig into that. Comedy channel is no big deal to me, so even if it is copy-once, oh well. Smile

Thanks again!
