Hi, first post here, read a lot about issues similar to mine, but still can't get NextPVR to work. When I select Live TV, I get a black screen, no video or audio. At first there was no C:\temp file, so that was added. Still not working. This is version. 3.6.6. I have looked at many websites and the settings of NextPVR seem to be as recommended, but something is wrong. I don't know what else to try, please help, Thanks in advance.

But you did not read the "Read before posting" sticky on top of this forum???

Reproduce the problem and post the logs and we'll take a look

Usual reason for black screen is the decoders. If you're using a network tuner, it can be caused by firewall etc.

Yep that is the sort of thing we'll need. Admittedly I can't look at those logs right now - I'm away for a couple of days with only my phone.

It does not appear to be loading an MPEG-2 decoder. Do you have one selected on the decoders screen? A screenshot of your decoders settings would be informative. Also, it's a good idea to zip and attach ALL the logs. There should be a button on the Settings->About screen that does the zipping for you.

I also just installed NextPVR on Windows 10. Set my MPEG2 decoder to MainConcept (HCW)MPEG-2 Video Decoder and still get a black screen. Not sure what to do, I followed all the set-up instructions and still getting a black screen. My ATSC source is a Hauppage WinTV 885 ATSC Tuner card. Will be following this thread for solutions.

if you do a recording, do you end up with a file on disk?

@gummybear308:

you just need decoders set for MPEG-2 video, MPEG1 audio and AC3 audio. leave the rest disabled, all the extra decoders only confuse matters. note the red text next to your selection for MPEG-2 video decoder. It's been a long time since I tried LAV, but I seem to recall it was particularly bad for live tv. I'd suggest following the link in the sticky for SAF.

you should also do a recording and see if you can then watch the completed recording. that will demonstrate either that you have everything else setup correctly, or that your problem is more fundamental and has nothing to do with live tv (i.e. let's see if we can sort out which tree the squirrel is in, then commence barking)
