I had setup NPVR to record while I was away, and set all the programs to record and all that, and then, I noticed I didn't have much room left on the recording drive.
So, went to the shop and got a new HD, and hot swapped it and did a format & assigned it the same drive letter as before.
Well, seems NPVR didn't like this, since it instead recorded all the shows to the SSD instead of the recording directory I told it while I was away.

Sure enough, when I got back, looked at the HD, and saw nothing new, puzzled, looked in event viewer and saw drive out of space errors, so I look at the SSD, and found some of the recordings, then I look at the NPVR settings and my old drive setting was there, however, there was a default above that set to the SSD drive.

Ack!

So, yeah, ran out of space on the SSD. Sad

Now, since explorer and all other programs could access the new HD, why did NPVR instead chose to add the default drive recording location again, instead of using the preferred device I had specified?
In the logs, I just see

day before
Code:
[DEBUG][9]    DefaultDirectoryChoice: first
[DEBUG][9]    allocating recording target filename: J:\tvtvtvtv\...
after...
Code:
[DEBUG][9]    DefaultDirectoryChoice: first
[DEBUG][9]    allocating recording target filename: C:\Users\Public\Videos\...

Nothing in the logs about the change back to the SSD (c:\) drive, it just started using it.

It is a two stage process to specify the recording folder.

Stage 1 ... Add the folder in Settings --> Recordings ... One folder will be called "Default" and others will be called what ever you specify ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording
Stage 2 ... Specify the folder when scheduling the recording ... if you do nothing here NextPVR will use "Default" folder ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...uide#toc12

You may be able to get the result that you want by using ... Default to recording location with the most space ... Settings --> Recordings ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording

Right, I know this.... (well, not about the default to recording location with the most space), but, what I am saying is, it added the default entry back, even though I did a edit on it the first time around.
Seems like a bug, in that, it shouldn't add the default back, if I already changed it in the first place.
Nothing in the logs indicate the reason for the change either.

When you visit the Recordings screen, if the specified recording directory doesn't exist (while loading up the screen), then it's updated to your machine's default "Videos" directory.

The primary reason for this logic is for new users, to set there initial recording directory.
