I've started having some issues where my server that I have my tuners and NextPVR installed doesn't wake up to record shows, and it doesn't stay on when it actually IS recording. Does NextPVR have a program or something that it runs only when it's recording that I can tell the LightsOut program to watch for to keep from going into Standby? Also, my system used to wake up to record shows fine, but I installed the latest version a few weeks ago and now it's not. Could the latest version be what's causing the problem? Should I uninstall and reinstall the whole thing? If so, is there a way to keep the settings (like the EPG data and tuner info)?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

No, I don't think so because nothing has changed around any of this power management stuff in years, and there is no other comments about it no longer waking or staying awake.

Are you using Lights Out? It sounds like the sort of thing that may be interfering with power management calls.

Otherways it may be related to your power management settings in Windows?

I don't think that'll make any difference at all, but you can backup the config.xml and npvr.db3 files, uninstall, delete c:\users\public\npvr, then reinstall, and restore those two files.

Thanks.. I was wondering if anybody had even seen this post. Smile

I'll have a look at my settings (power management, Lights Out, etc). Does NPVR have a task scheduler event that is triggered when a recording is supposed to start that wakes the computer up? Maybe it's not doing it's thing. The strange part was it shutting off during a recording. I noticed it during the Olympics. I wanted to record the opening ceremony, and it only got the first 10 minutes. Then I tried to record the closing ceremony, and it didn't even wake up to do it, let alone stay awake to record the whole thing. I did notice though that when I tried to record the gymnastics final, I had it scheduled but the computer didn't wake to record it, but when I force woke the computer it started recording as soon as it could. It acts like there is something misconfigured as far as the service is concerned that is supposed to wake the computer up and keep it awake. If the computer is ON when it needs to record, it will, but won't do anything to keep it awake, or wake it up. I just don't know. I'm sure it's probably something wrong on my end if nobody else is reporting similar issues.

In the nrecord.log you get messages like this telling you what times it's asked Windows to wake up. Window's takes care of the rest of the activities to make sure it's awake. You can check your logs to make sure you've got those lines.

There is no specific messages that show the power management calls that keep your machine awake while watching. I could add log messages to show this, but trust me - it's doing these calls, and hasn't changed in years, and is successfully keep everyone else's machine awake, so I think it's likely something in your power management settings, or 3rd party power management software you've installed.
