So... It's been a while, hi everyone! Smile

This is really odd (forgive the story). I THINK it all started happening when I updated to the latest version of Windows 10, but I can't be 100% sure (my wife is really the one that records stuff, I only get informed when something isn't working).

My channels were all set up and happy, everything was great for years (this was why I was never around, the thing just worked!!), then it stopped being able to tuner/record the SD channels. OK.. I figure Verizon decided to mess with me, so I try re-scanning, the only channels I can find are when I scan "Default Cable Frequencies 70+" and that only gives me the HD versions of my channels. OK, fine, whatever, I assume Verizon is messing with me, and not putting the SD versions in the clear anymore. So I re-map everything so the wife's shows all keep recording automatically, etc. etc. but since they don't all stack on a single frequency anymore (yeah, I was lucky), I get some conflicts (and space issues because everything is HD now). SO we decide that getting an HDHomeRun Prime is the solution, extra tuners, possibility for a cablecard, all goodness. I just got that today, set it all up, everything is great with the setup and view apps from SiliconDust. I set up NPVR for the new tuners, it imports the existing settings, all is well. THEN I notice something odd, I was able to see the SD channels with the HDHomeRun still!?!?!

I start digging more, and it looks like the HDHomeRun is able to tune the SD channels without an issue, but I still cant scan/tune them on the HVR2250. I tried updating the drivers for the Hauppauge device, no joy, still no channels in the scan. it looks like it just doesn't want to lock onto anything under channel 70 anymore?!

TLDR: My Hauppauge device decided it didn't want to lock onto some channels anymore, but they're still there because an HDHomeRun can pick them up just fine.

I am guessing there are some specific logs I need to collect for this, but if its just the standard ones, I can send those.

Are you using a cablecard in your HDHR Prime?

The HDHomeRun Prime can often get a lot more channels than the HVR-2250. NextPVR can only get copy-freely channels through the HDHomeRun Prime, but what's not obvious to a lot of people are that often these channels are encrypted on the cable system, so required the HDHR Prime to decrypt them before sending them across the network to NextPVR. An HVR2250 on the otherhand can only tune the clear QAM channels that are not encrypted.

Nope, No cablecard yet, I might get one eventually, but for now its just a dumb QAM tuner.

You want me to collect some logs for you? Or did I miss something that other people have already figured out?
If you're going to ask about wintv... I will have to go find the CD that came with it to get it to let me install.

There were some patches pertaining to scanning with 3.7.7, not sure if any of them are now included in the installer. I've completely dropped the ball on maintaining any sort of patch list, but here's a list Martin and a new guy put together: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post506213. You can see the last one pertains to your issue.

Yep, check that patch. If no go, and you can find out what frequencies these channels are on, do a scan and post your npvr.log, I'll take a look.

I tried to find the wintv disc... no luck, for some reason I can't find it 7 years after never using it.

I doubt it was a new version, since (cringe... don't hit me) I hadn't updated NPVR since I built this PC 20 months ago. Just one day (probably 8/15) it just stopped tuning some channels.

I DID update to the latest version of NPVR once I started having the problem.

lets just pick one.. frequency 63, SID 3302

Its odd, it looks like it actually finds it in the log, but nothing shows up in the window.

I tried one of the patches and it looks like that may have worked (doesnt explain why it up and stopped in the first place).

still messing with it to see if it actually tunes the channels

And it does... what the heck?!

Well, I guess I cant complain about stuff working, and probably should have saved some logs from the original failure.

Thanks!! Sorry for not installing the patch first, I was fixated on the original failure.

And sub, thanks again for your awesome software.
