Just got a letter from Comcast today indicating they are moving to MPEG-4 stream on their cable cards. As I have a HDHomeRun, I am a little concerned, however it appears that Silicon Dust HDHR device supports the MP4 format (aka H264 stream).

Not sure what other devices this may affect, thought I'd share the information...

It shouldn't be a big deal, and NextPVR should be able to handle it fine. You may need to rescan, or update the channel service type, but other than that - it should continue to work fine.

I got the same letter.

Do we need to rescan in NPVR or in the HDHomeRun software (or both?).

I'm not familiar with the channel service type. Where is that setting?

Thanks!

Probably both.

A scan may not help for channels you've already got - you may need to change the service type manually, or delete the channels so you can rescan (and then recreate your recurring recordings for those channels)

When you go into the Settings->Devices screen, then double click on your device, then right click on a channel and select Edit. It lets you choose between MPEG2, H.264 etc.
