Is it possible to wake NPVR server using WOL in KODI? If so, please direct me on the correct steps to take. I have trying to figure this out, but with no success.

Thanks.

Definitely possible because I do it from x-newa. There is supposed to be a way in Kodi to have WOL send on network requests but, and it is a Kardashian but, it would be a waste of time configuring this with pvr.nextpvr because the Kodi PVR api will be continually be waking up your server.

Hmmm, I would be happy to get it working once.

I enabled it in system > powersaving; I setup wakeonlan.xml in userdata folder, and the server continues its snoring. I am missing something, but not sure what.

Did you check the BIOS to see if there is a wakeonlan setting that needs enabling? Sometimes but not always a clue that this needs to be done is to look at your ethernet jack on the back of the target computer... if the orange or white or whatever lights are not flickering check the bios settings. The ethernet needs to stay awake while the pc sleeps.

Having said that I have a Lenovo desktop where I see the wake on lan settings in the bios and can change them. On the other hand I have a HP Pavilion laptop where there is no such setting in the bios and nothing wakes this device from the lan.

Mine stopped working recently too and while I could see X-NEWA trying to wake my main machine it never succeeded. In the end I installed the "Advanced wake on lan" plugin on my Pi and now it wakes fine. I'm not sure what broke it as I upgraded to latest NextPVR and the latest Openelec at the same time.

Yeah, I went ahead and installed advanced wakeonlan also. It works fine on Mint and OpenElec, but LibreElec has issues, with the timing of wakeonlan being one of them - LE wakes the server, but after it starts Kodi and freezes at "starting pvr client" step.
