Video playback issue

Using current version NPVRSetup_3_8_3_160929 and supplemental patch to fix deletion of a recording when folder contains more than one entry. (Thanks!)

So, after the latest update the ability to skip or forward through a recording does not work as expected. The recording will play normally until skip button is pressed at which time the video will freeze. Same is true if select any area of timeline with mouse as well. With the debug info on it appears the video counter is advancing to the proper time and continues to count up as normal; only the video and audio is frozen. Press skip once more and the video advances in debug window but video is still frozen on screen. Back button will work to return to the recording menu. Video plays fine in VLC. Unfortunately the problem does not always exhibit itself for all recordings. I've tried all possible decoder options which were confirmed to work in previous versions. Video size is approximately 12 GB.

Usually when a user reports these symptoms, it comes down to the decoder they're using...so I'd suggest tring a different video decoder.

After reviewing all my settings were correct I reviewed all my available decoder options:

LAV Video Decoder
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
MainConcept (HCQ) MPEG-2 Video Decoder
CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD13)

In the past I would notice some were better than others but I just can't get any of them to work after the latest update. Verified the issue on two different computers. Interestingly skip works fine with live TV.

I would suggest selecting CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD13) for use with MPEG video. Exit NextPVR and then restart you computer. In the past I have found in the past that sometimes any changes made in the Decode screen will not take effect until a reboot is performed on the computer.
