can any one enlighten me as to whats happening here:
Code:
23:56:35.139 T:6596   ERROR: CCurlFile::FillBuffer - Failed: Timeout was reached(28)
23:56:35.139 T:6596   ERROR: CCurlFile::Open failed with code 0 for http://192.168.0.23:8866/service?method=recording.lastupdated&sid=08eb40a8896f4a8ebcb583cee70a52c4
23:56:35.139 T:6596   ERROR: XFILE::CFileCache::Open - failed to open source <http://192.168.0.23:8866/service?method=recording.lastupdated&sid=08eb40a8896f4a8ebcb583cee70a52c4>
23:56:35.139 T:6596  NOTICE: AddOnLog: NextPVR PVR Client: Disabling recording update.  Update NextPVR to v3.4

i have a win7 pc set up with npvr, my media and a common mysql library for my kodi boxes, as i work full time and spend maybe a few hours a day watching stuff through kodi i decided i would have this go to sleep when not in use to save on the bills. iv been playing with 'wake on lan' to wake up this pc when kodi needs it. this has been giving me all sorts of problems.

It appears that something the npvr add on is doing is causing me problems. if i turn off the npvr addon in kodi, i can reliably let the computer go to sleep and the wol kicks in and fires up the pc as it should. but it seems like the add on is trying to connect to the sleeping computer without waking it which cause kodi to try and read the mysql database without waking up the computer and after 5 unsuccessful attempts at reading this database kodi then stops trying to read the database until i reboot kodi.

It's basically polling the server to ask "has anything changed about the recordings?" If the server answers "yes", then the NextPVR addon asks Kodi to initiate a reload of the recording list.

oh i see this causes problems for me then big time, if kodi is open on my laptop or my kodi boxes (intel nuc and odroid c2) and the npvr computer goes to sleep it totally crashes kodi and i need to force it closed via task manager or power cycling the device. with the pvr disabled the wol works exactly as expected. but with the pvr on the first time the npvr computer goes to sleep its a total show stopper and a reboot is the only option.

would there be any work around for this? ideally have the pvr side of kodi use the wol like the normal library does. to wake up the npvr computer when needed, and only have the recordings and guide ect refresh when you go in to those sections of kodi.

edit: or even if the npvr server could prevent windows from letting the computer sleep while kodi is connected to it would work just as well for me.

I'll look at adding 'wake on lan' to a future version of the NextPVR addon. I don't really have any workaround suggestions for you on the polling however.

I am not sure how often Kodi polls but to me it would be silly to wake the server for status updates all day and night. The Kodi PVR developers like the regular status updates but I prefer libraries myself with the server asleep and won't consider this as an on demand feature.

I use two user accounts on Kodi one has the PVR add-on enabled one doesn't. I do most of my watching in the library with no add-on but I do use x-newa in that session to send a wol and if I don't want to use x-newa for what I want I logout after the wol and use PVR.nextpvr add-on.

i agree that waking the server up repeatedly would be counter productive.

if npvr would prevent the server from sleeping while a kodi client is connected that would work quite well for me without having more that one user account on the kodi players.

The Kodi client connection is stateless so there is nothing to check from the server end and besides the connections continue regardless if you have any PVR functions open so even if sub added state it would always be active when Kodi was active. If you don't like it that would be a Kodi design change which as I wrote they aren't willing to do.

ok, could i use the Wakeup.bat to ping the ip addressed of the clients and if the ping is successful have it change SetThreadExecutionState to stop the pc from sleeping maybe?
