New user looking for setting controls?

I recently updated to windows 10 and was a long time WMC user for OTA TV through my antenna. With the upgrade i decided to switch over to NEXTPVR for my OTA viewing. I am 100% happy with how easy the set up was and the interface but is there a way to fine tune the picture quality? I have an LG 55OLEDC7P and the live TV is very pixelated. I understand that im stretching a 1080i picture to 2160p but it looks like its just stretching the picture rather then up converting it. Where the pixel edges are pretty much just sharp corners with no smoothing at all?

On my old 1080p TV with WMC live TV the picture was outstanding and better then with my 4K TV. Are there any tips you can give me to optimize the OTA video quality so that it looks smother and better? I looked in NEXTPVR but im not finding any settings. Do I need to adjust the TV setting or even the Nvidia? I would rather adjust in NEXTPVR because other video from Netflix or BD disc is great and i have no issues there.

The picture quality is mostly due to the video decoder ... Does it make a difference if you try a different decoder? Plus, you could try playing the recording video files using VLC software ... This might give a different quality picture so that you have some idea of what is possible ... this would also show if the quality is due to, for example, poor reception of the broadcast signal. You can change the settings for the decoder by clicking the three dots beside the decoder selection in NextPVR Settings --> Decoders.

I have a OLED55B6p. The up scaling of HD 720P and 1080I is very good. SD is another matter. Can be pretty bad but I blame all lot of that on the very low bit rates that are usually used for those sub channels.

Could be poor reception on some channels. Do you see the same things with the antenna connected directly to the TV. I also suspect a video decoder problem but I would also look into a possible transcoding or scaling issue.

I really dont this its my antenna quality, because im very close to the broadcast tower and have never had issues in the past. I checked last night with my decoders and i onlt have to available, H264 and LAV. It was on LAV so i switched it to h264 and i got no picture. Are there other decoders that are better that i can install?

The Microsoft DVB DVD decoder if available is good.

From what i have just searched on the forum it seems that the Microsoft encoders and the LAV filters that i already have are the best encoders avaialbe for NEXTPVR, if there is anything else that is recommended please let me know.

Ultimately NextPVR isn't producing the pictures you end up seeing on your TV. That job is done by the combination of video decoder and video renderer, so your only real options are trying other video decoders, or looking a display settings for your video card.

There is no list ... Most people here have found that LAV and Microsoft are as good as it gets ... There is SAF which is an installer that will install decoders and other software ... send a forum private message to Hoborg to get the "unlocked" version that includes the "best" decoders. ... https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post414049

Have you tried playback using VLC ... VLC has its own underlying architecture and is sometimes able to highlight the source of a problem.

Can you share a screenshot of the Decoder section of your settings?

Your video card settings will definitely come into play here. I would turn off any of the "enhancement" settings in there like anti-aliasing, edge enhancement,, noise reduction, etc.
