Kodi NextPVR add-on VPN issue

I've set up Vader Streams with NextPVR using a a Windows 10 laptop with NextPVR as the server, and an android based Kodi box configured with the NextPVR client add-on. I run a VPN on both machines but they will not communicate unless the VPN on the Kodi client is disabled. Is there a way to configure this so I'm not having to start and stop the VPN every time I want to watch IPTV? Log file attached.

This is probably more of a VPN provider question.

I run Mullvad VPN and to use a local network it has an option you need to set in their app. Even at that, their tech support cautioned me that they were having some issues with local network access...basically the PC with the VPN on it could see and access the local network, but other systems on the local network may not be able to access the PC with the VPN.

So far though, I haven't had that issue - I run all Win 7 Pro machines and they've all ben able to talk to each other whether they have the VPN running or not.
