It would be real nice if record services worked like live TV record. In that if you have to restart record services it would check to see if an existing .mpg exists for the recording and if so add a -1, -2, etc to the show to be recorded.

There are times when a reboot is needed for some (dumb) reason and if you don't remember before rebooting to rename a recording that is in progress you end up cursing a lot.

Worse yet is if you forget to rename and two days later sit down with your wife/girlfriend to watch the show she just loves and find there is only 8 minuets of the end.

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem.
Cheers,
Larry

I'll second that. I've been meaning to post this as a wishlist item for a while. Mostly, like you, it's a case of not plugging my brain in before rebooting or restarting the recording service. I did it the other night 10 minutes before the end of a 2 hour film - DOH! Luckily I'd seen the film before so I wasn't too bothered.

On the otherhand...it occurs to me that it would be useful in a situation of a short-term power-cut. We don't get many power-cuts round here but on occasions the local power company might knock the power out for one reason or another for a few minutes - it would be nice if the recording restarted using a different file.

You have a wife AND a girlfriend???!!! Man, if I were you I wouldn't mess around with any recording system EVER - either that or buy some steel underpants or some fast running shoes. Big Grin

Cheers,
Brian
