Changing the KNEWC UI Client Skin

Is it possible to change the skin for the KNEWC UI Client?  I created a custom skin a few years ago for the NextPVR Windows desktop app that I'd like to now use with my new Kodi/KNEWC setup.

With v4 with the backend it is trivial, just edit <WebClientSkin/> to point to the same skin for all clients or even <MVPSkin/> for individual client.

For v5 there are many unknowns. I am not sure if sub supports manually changing the skin in v5 (there is no GUI way to do it). I am not sure if v5 respects the WebClientSkin setting or individual one (via the client store either). I am also not sure if sub ported all the skin commands.

I suggest trying the change an letting us now. You would have to restart the server to see these change in UI client.

If that is a fail, you could copy C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin\Default to a backup folder and place all your changes directly in Default and that should work. You would have to make sure you skin has been updated with v5 changes hopefully it isn't too custom. You would need to use a lot of precaution on new version updates. Fortunately the client skin is not seeing a lot of change so you can probably just swap the folder before the upgrade.

Thanks - it worked!

I'm on v5.0.4. It's possible to change the skin on the Windows NextPVR Windows App by right clicking, General > Active Skin. I updated the config file as you specified, restarted the service, and NEWC showed my custom skin.

Glad to hear it works from its own folder. In this day of "Dark Mode" this is a refreshing skin

On thing to consider is NextPVR runs on platforms where file name is important. Based on Default I am pretty sure that sub must be handling the directory separator (slash and backslash) but you need to ensure the proper case of your files. As an example here https://github.com/cweseloh/nextpvr-skin...s2.xml#L57 you call for _Common\Right.png but you don't have that file you have Right.PNG so this will fail.

Yes - most are too dark for my liking. However, I've thought about making a slightly darker version of this theme too. The default blue skin is a little too 1990s for my taste, but it has a great layout and has exactly the screens and info I want.

Interesting. The original skin files I have from my v4 folder have the same inconsistent capitalization, so that's what I based my skin on. The v5 skin files are consistently capitalized now. Not sure if that's new in v5 or if the upgrade process didn't change them during a previous v4 minor upgrade. Looks like I'll need to make some updates. Github pull requests welcome

It is new for v5 because only in Windows is Right.PNG the same as Right.png. You wouldn't have had problems using Windows as your backend.
