Is there a way to auto merge channels by channel number?  I have one tuner than lists the channel name by call sign, the other uses the name from the EPG (I think).  The channel numbers are the same, but I have to manually merge each.

Also, after I do manually merge a channel, the web page re-selects all stations.  What is the purpose for this?  Doing the manual merge I have to click the select all twice to unselect all channels and then pick the next two stations to manually merge.

What tuner type(s) and EPG source are you talking about?

I'm going through this same problem/process right now.

It would be really nice if the auto-merge function had some options like "Merge Matching Channel Numbers", "Merge Matching Names".

Also, like baj1 stated, having the web page re-select all channels after doing a manual merge and then requiring the user to select all, unselect all, go back and find the 2 to be merged, select them, then go back to the top to select merge is quite cumbersome! It would be nice if it didn't automatically reselect all channels after doing a manual merge. It makes more sense to me to not have any channels automatically selected after a manual merge. And is there a way to do a keyboard shortcut to do the actual manual merge so that after selecting the 2 channels to be merged, the user doesn't have to scroll all the way back to the beginning of the list?

+1 on Brett's suggestions.  Just had to do a rescan again and it ends up being an hours-long process to get everything working again because one station decided to shuffle their frequencies.

If you know the channel you can create a single conf file and scan it.  If you don't in North America you can reduce the channels to 2-35

Is there a way to edit the device/channel config externally? I looked in the DB3 file and found what appeared to be the names/details in the tables in there, but was unsure if this was a reasonable thing to do or if there is more to it than what the tables show. If we export to csv or similar it'd be even easier to update with MS Excel or OO Calc.

It would make more sense to edit the db3 file directly but typically a user wouldn't know what to change and basically isn't worth the time explaining. Certainly if you don't know what frequency to change to create a conf file you shouldn't be attempting it.
