Is there any way to group movies into a single directory so that my Recordings list does not get too long??

Would Movies plugin do it?

Can I move them manually with Files Plugin?

Do these plugins work with NextPVR 5?

Also, I was not sure how to install these plugins. There is no Plugin directory in my data directory.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, no - old plugins do not work in NextPVR v5. These old plugins were created using .NET Framework. NextPVR v5 instead uses .NET Core. (similar name, but different technology and incompatible)

Create recording groups and record or archive into the group.  Then use NextPVR Video Library or a real movie  library application like Kodi or Emby to view the folders.  You don't need premium Emby for just videos.

Hi Martin,
I do not understand how this would work. I tried creating a Movies Channels group but that seems to just select which channels are displayed in the TV guide. Is a recording group something different? I cannot find where to create that?

Maybe I did not explain well. When I look at the Recordings in the web page view in icon mode then I see a separate icon for each movie. I want to see a single icon called Movies and click on that to see the movie names.

That will keep the Icons view of the recordings from getting too long.

Thanks.

I mentioned my solution was for the NextPVR.exe Video Library and not the web app which really offers very basic access to recordings.

Hi Martin,

In my main recording directory called c:\videos I made a new directory called Movies.

I then added a recording directory \videos\Movies.

I opened the NextPVR desktop app and selected the movies one by one and archived them to the Movies directory.

For future movie recordings I just have to remember to choose the Movies recording directory for them.

Now all movies are in the \videos\Movies directory and if I browse to the \videos directory using Kodi or some other program then the movies are separate.

Is this what you were suggesting?

Still, it would be nice to be able to see the movie descriptions when browsing through them using the program that I will view them with. Is there anyway to do that? Otherwise I can browse for movie names using Kodi then look at the descriptions thorugh the web interface or the Kodi NextPVR plugin..

THanks.

That is what I was suggesting, you could even categorize movies if you wanted.

If you are creating the files with NextPVR, you coul enable the xml metadata creation and in theory NextPVR should show that description and the art from media/shows iin NextPVR and other UI clients.
