Plutotv stream failing

I'm hoping someone can show me where I went wrong getting this extra to work. I tried to follow the instructions as close as I could but I must have missed something. I suspect it is path related but could also be permissions. The details of steps I performed and the results are in the attached txt file.

Bottom line: Streamlink works from the command line. Pluto EPG and VOD populate but I get streaming errors on both when I try to play.

Right off the bat

pip install --user --upgrade streamlink

It seems you didn't install streamlink for all users so I expect it would fail.

Installing streamink is outside the scope of the addon but I have not done it with pip, I would suggest using sudo apt install streamlink if it gets you the version you want, if not download a deb file.

Thanks Martin. I installed streamlink that way because it sounded from the warning on the site like that was what was required in order to get the latest version. I had tried sudo apt install before but got an old version, so it sounds like I need to use the deb file instead.

One other question: Should nextpvr own all the dirs and files under /var/opt/nextpvr/scripts/plutotv ?

I think hacking around with the scripts to come up with automated PlutoTV xmltv updates but I gave up on being able to do. I think that if you try it nextpvr will need access to scripts/plutotv/update.lock

The way python in handled on linux is a mystery to me and at this point a VE is way outside my comfort zone. I just installed streamlink with sudo apt install and got the same version as the deb file, 1.3.1, and now I'm getting "Starting Video-on-Demand stream. Please wait." but nothing ever happens. Apparently installing Pluto plugin is beyond my abilities. Too bad. It's a really neat idea.

Make sure you also install python3-streamlink

At the end of the day I don't like PlutoTV myself.

Thanks. I'll give it one more shot. How is python3-streamlink installed? Through apt or pip?
