Hi Folks,

i recently did a fresh install of corelec and then docker and npvr. i am running nvpr 5.2.0.210912 .

i found the value in config.xml <SortChannelGroups>false</SortChannelGroups> does not appear to be repected and all my groups in Kodi show in alphabetical order, rather then the order i have configured in my M3u.

i tried deleting Kodi epg and tvdb and rebooting a few times, and also a couple more completely fresh installs of corelelc (latest ng nightly and also latest ng stable) but no change.

has something changed in this image relating to this setting - more i need to do perhaps?

previously i was on an older 5.1 docker version of npvr and the setting was working fine, i also have npvr on my win 10 PC (5.1.1.210329) and if i point my kodi box to that as back end, and delete kodi epg and tvdb files, the groups show in kodi in order i set in my m3u, not alphabetical as i see in latest docker image.

Thanks

This appears to be a Kodi question which should be posted in the Kodi sub-forum. There was a change in 8.2.9 of pvr.nextpvr for Matrix that could be impacting you but even before the change the addon was always telling Kodi that there was no priority so Kodi was free to display the how it wanted. Up to now you probably were just lucky. You could see if this is indeed the issue by temporarily changing the version number in config.xml to 5.1.99. Kodi will still see this as an arbitrary list but you might still be lucky.

A future enhancement to the addon could identify the priority if sub can send the groups in priority order or with a priority value.

thanks Martin,

when i first starting using nexrpvr, i had issue with groups showing alphabetically and asked on the form. Sub advised he had never been asked for that as most playlists are a mess in no sort of order so fopr most folks alphabetical was best, and he added a flag in the config for me in the next release to chose weather they are sent alphabetically as was default, or in order of m3u as i was looking for, (see below thread, post 8) and that as been working flawlessly, on many fresh installs through lots of releases on multiple boxes, the issue only came back when i updated one of my boxes to latest npvr

https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=60812

all my client boxes are matrix, and use my PC as back end except two matrix boxes im my kids rooms which use an old s912 with Leia running docker as back-end and has custom channel list for my kids bedrooms, and one matrix box in my office that has local docker install as backed (this is the box on latest docker image that is not respecting the value in config, but if i point it to my PC or the Leia docker image on s912 with kids channels, it does respect the setting is presents the groups in same order as m3u)

What I am saying is if it worked it Kodi that was simply arbitrary chance, and Kodi didn't have to respect it. If sub confirms that they are coming in an ordered way I can change the Kodi logic and can prioritize them the way the API delivers them. This is very low priority fo me.

It's actually a trivial change if they come in ordered, the time consuming part is Kodi Team is their infinite wisdom are now making me do Nexus builds first and then backports to Matrix. I am just in the process of getting my Nexus environment working. I personally don't agree with this approach but I have no say.

Hi

i recently upgraded CoreELEC / Kodi to nexus, and am very pleased to report, that <SortChannelGroups>false</SortChannelGroups> in config.xml is being respected again and groups show up in Kodi in the order i arranged them in my M3u Editor, not just in NextPVR web browser

Thanks for this!!!!
