Video streaming URL and parameters?

Can someone point me to the API video streaming URL for both recordings and live tv as well as the possible parameters (transcoding, direct, etc.)?  Thank you.

If you watch live tv or a recording in the web app, and scroll the page down, and click the 'how else can I was my stream' you'll see the url for watching that stream.

Basically:
http://192.168.1.7:8866/live?channel_id=16950
http://192.168.1.7:8866/live?recording_id=890

These will send you the native stream.

There is some transcoding functionality used by the web application, which results in an m3u8 stream, but that is much more complicated, requiring a series of calls to initiate the transcode and to keep the session active etc. (ie, not just some parameters on these urls, and no simple url that can be used in another player)
