Is 'TabloTv Extra' Compatible with Gen 4 Devices?

Hello Team,

First post here. I'm formally a HDHomeRun user, and new to the NextPVR world. I've been a Kodi user, because of how simple I can turn an old computer into a device that can do OTA Tv and make it all seem like it's like an expensive set top box. But my HDHR decided it wanted to die. I saw the Tablo devices, and thought it would be cool to upgrade and add DVR functionality (since HDHR seems to have a subscription). Originally doing my research, I thought Tablo had a plugin for Kodi, but I did not dive deep enough into the research it seems. Though I would really like to get my Tablo working. I know that NextPVR is a plugin that looks to work with Kodi, so here I am.

I'm an armature tech person, thought I might be able to figure this out. I have tried installing both Win11 Pro (64bit) and Ubuntu Server 22.04 (using the full install, I tried with minimal and ran into other issues). I downloaded the 'TabloTV-2.0.5.zip', extrated the 4 files, and uploaded it to both systems in the corresponding NextPVR folder location. I seem to be able to get everything installed, get the files copied over, and run the setup. Both boxes are returning that it looks like trying to access the Tablo device returns an "Unauthorized" 401 error:

Am I missing a step? I thought maybe it was my OS, that's why I tried both just to make sure. Now that both are returning thee same thing, I am wondering if maybe my device is too new and/or an updated firmware release is why this is happening. I wanted to check if anyone else has run into any issues? I've been looking at this all weekend. And rebuilt the OSes a couple of times to make sure I was not missing something or made a mistake and got the same results. Hoping for a fresh pair of eyes to point out my mistakes, I can be more detailed of my steps taken to do the installs, but was hoping with the above error someone might know where to go from here.

Or tell me it doesn't work and I have to wait for the Tablo team to push out the app for my Tv. Currently using Bluestacks to install the TabloTv app to get it to work, but it's SOOOO clunky. Plus I'm liking what I see can be done with NextPVR, was hoping to get comfortable and start using it with my setup.

The extra is only compatible with Gen 3 and Gen 2 devices Unfortunately Gen 4 is not available in Canada so I can't confirm if it would ever be possible however it looks like discovery is possible which would be a start

Hello Martin,

Rats! I was hoping that this would work with the Gen 4. Hopefully Tablo releases this to Canada, so that some further development of your process could be done.

If there is anything I can do to help with the process, please feel free to ping me here or DM me. I am always happy to tinker, if it can help the greater good.

Otherwise I, and the rest of the Gen 4 part of the community, will sit back and hope that Tablo opens things up a bit more for everyone. I appreciate the feedback!

Since the Gen4 box now includes up to 72 streaming channels I would second this development. If it is a matter of getting Mvallevand a Gen 4 box I would pitch in.

It's more than having the device since I am not sure how they lock down access in Canada if it is by IP I am SOL until there is Canadian support. If it is not locked I'd have to see how it works reporting a zip code in Ogdensbug NY, to see if my local channels are on the list.

The main issue is how securely the locked down authentication between the devices. It was open for the last gen so it wasn't difficult to view the web socket API running in the browser. Getting guide data for the FAST channels might prove to be challenge too.

This thread did give some slim hope https://community.tablotv.com/t/tablo-4t...s/31913/13 but for a few FAST channels it isn't that interesting to me especially if there is no guide data.
