Hello Everyone.  I've had this problem before.  Previously, used Win 10 to add an IP addressable network path similar to below.

Update the Nextpvr service with the LOG on as a local user
In the Web console, go to General, and select "Add Other Recording Directory"
\\192.168.0.112\Public\recordings

And this worked fine.

On a new Windows install, Server 2016, the Log on local user is not giving me access to the network and says "Unable to add recording directory:" from NextPVR.  NextPVR works correctly as expected and records to the local C: virtual drive.

Have I forgotten a step?

Thanks for any help.  Still love using NEXTPVR.

and the same local user in the new server can connect to \\192.168.0.112\Public\recordings via explorer?

(It seems slightly strange to move from Win10 to server 2016 when mainstream support for 2016 expired in 2022.)

Yes, I can add/modify and delete from that folder.
Svr2016 was the Windows 10 edition for servers, and I had the license. I recently have had stuttering problems in my recordings, so I figured it was an easy build to redo from my current WIN10. Windows 10 forces updates and will eventually reboot your system, my thought was just to put it on the server platform Which BTW does work just fine for the local file storage, just not the NAS.

It is going to come down to a typo, permissions, SMB version, or multiple CIFS logins from the same client but it isn't a NextPVR issue.

This is a new system setup, fresh windows install and nextpvr, fully updated, so there is very little done to the install.  I've included the logs.
I verified I can get to the shared path, and I can delete files.

I've checked I have both SMB 1.0 and SMB 2/3 enabled

Anything else I can check?

I confirmed I can add a UNC to a share name or directory after the share name on a Debian CIFS so I don't know where else you can look.

Perhaps in PreStartup.bat add and check the logs for any error message. If there aren't any try the map after the net use

Code:
net use \\192.168.0.112\public3
dir  \\192.168.0.112\public3

net use \\192.168.0.112\public3\recordings
dir \\192.168.0.112\public3\recordings
