I'm in the process of setting up NextPVR on a new PC.  I'm using a Hauppauge HD PVR 2 to record.  Until recently I was able to record using component video coming out of the set-top box and into the HD PVR for 1080i output.  Just trying to work out a few details in NextPVR.

So in the midst of this, my TV provider Verizon FIOS reached out to us to schedule an "upgrade" of our service.  They came a couple of days ago and they replaced our set-top boxes.  They took the old boxes away and left us with new boxes that only have HDMI and composite video out.  No component.

The only input that I can use on the HD PVR is component because of DRM/HDCP restrictions on HDMI , and now there seems to be no way to get a component signal out of the set-top box.

Any thought on how to deal with this?  Help is much appreciated!

First I would figure out if you can tune the STB box. If that works there are devices on Amazon that duplicate HDMI and happen to remove HDCP.

We've been exchanging posts in another thread about trying to get my irblaster working. Is that what you're referring to when you say see if I can tune the STB?

Right some of the new STB tuners will not be able to controlled with the Hauppauge software. In the other thread it seems like you got it working with WinTV so there is hope for you, but since this is a new thread I wanted to make sure that other users know there is more to the issue getting new generation STB's than just HDCP DRM.

As Martin suggested earlier, I’d be looking for an HDMI splitter that removes HDCP. Quite a few of them do.

I didn't know there was such a device! I just got one, and now I'm able to see it in 1920 x 1080i. Thanks for your help.
