Hello everyone!

Just checking to see if anyone has an idea if it is possible to execute a command after a certain time while streaming?  My provider doesn't have an option to disable sleep on my STB, so the only thing you can do is press a button on the remote every 2 hours.  I'm wondering if there is a way to execute an external command on a timer while the device is streaming.

Thanks,

Jason

Your tuning script would be responsible creating a process to do this.

For Rogers I have set the timeout to 5 hours and my tuning script starts by sending the BACK key to kill the screensaver. I only recorded a couple of hockey and basketball games that went over 2 hours but they recorded completely.

Thanks - I do have it set to 5 hours, but I tend to leave the TV on in the background all day and often don't change the channel.  I was hoping there is a way to send an IR transmit every 4 hours or something.

Certainly that would be pretty easy with Windows task scheduler or cron on Linux. Just a couple of things to watch for if you don't send BACK

- if you send OK you get a OSD asking for pause but it is shorter than a number which is waiting for a search in something you are watching
- it could in theory run while you are blasting to change a channel
