When changing channels (zapping) the picture will freeze until the next channel clears. Is it possible to display a blank/black screen from the moment you press the button to change channel, until the next channel opens?
So, exactly the same behaviour like regular TV sets.

I am assuming you are talking LE as a client with pvr.nextpvr This behaviour will vary by client and it Kodi so you would need to discuss this on the Kodi forum. The pvr.nextpvr addon does close and open streams as new and as no control of the UI. You might see differences if you enable timeshift since these actions are more discrete.

I actually prefer a still frame from the old with an OSD for the new channel over a black screen to let me know what is going on so if a Kodi change is discussed you will get a -1 from me.

No need to give me a -1 :-) Both should be possible with an option I guess. And it's a matter of personal taste as well.
