A clean install of NextPVR Version 7.0.1.241229 on a new Windows 11 PC is preventing sleep after viewing "Live TV".  If applicable, NextPVR is using the Hauppauge QuadHD Tuner card with most recent drivers and LAV codecs.  Except for the sleep issue, the NextPVR Client is working flawlessly.

Watching recorded TV programs after the fact does not prevent sleep.  Only after watching Live TV is the sleep command or 5 minute sleep timer not being followed.  The issue is similar to a thread started by Escape7 on 2024-11-06 discussing the NextPVRServer.exe preventing sleep but in my case, the issue is with watching Live TV rather than updating the EPG.

For now, the issue with sleep deprivation can be resolved by 1) restarting the PC, 2) using Windows Task Manager, Services to Restart "NextPVRServer.exe", or 3) just watch recorded programming (which is 90% of the time anyway).

Thankyou in advance for your support.

The NextPVR logs which may be applicable are attached.

The following is the output from Windows 11 showing the source of sleep deprivation:

C:\Windows\System32>powercfg -requests
DISPLAY:
None.

SYSTEM:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files\NextPVR\NextPVRServer.exe

AWAYMODE:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files\NextPVR\NextPVRServer.exe

EXECUTION:
None.

PERFBOOST:
None.

ACTIVELOCKSCREEN:
None.

For the OP's problem I'd start with checking the hidden sleep setting in Windows which seems to waking the PC not NextPVR. It is going to sleep.

As for post #2 if you want to hijack a thread include logs.

Martin,

Thanks for your reply and suggestions to consider hidden Windows sleep settings.  I assume that your suggestion to test hidden sleep settings relates to specific sleep settings for things like LAN, mouse, USB, etc.  I have experimented with these settings but the sleep issue persists.  Please advise if this is not correct.

I’m certain I do not understand how to interpret the log file you attached but in the interest of possibly assisting the NextPVR community, I did a final test:

Step 1:  Delete all the NextPVR log files that are not in use.
Step 2:  Start NextPVR client and select a TV channel from the Guide and watch for 5 minutes.
Step 3:  Exit Next PVR
Step 4:  Determine if the PC sleeps by either user command or sleep timeout.
Step 5:  Download NextPVR logs and provide to community for review.

The Windows PC in question has been waking and entering sleep normally when used to watch NextPVR recorded TV as well as numerous other PC functions for over a week.  After watching NextPVR Live TV in the test above, it failed to sleep normally and required a restart.  As indicated in my original post, the “powercfg -requests” command shows that NextPVRServer.exe is the source of insomnia.

It appears that the problem I described in my first post is not wide spread and I have an easy work around to allow normal sleep to occur but I thought the test above may be instructive as to the cause of this PC’s insomnia should others in the community encounter a similar issue.

Thanks again for your support.

The hidden settings are not standard here is one https://winaero.com/add-system-unattende...ws-10/amp/ that can be problematic.

I showed the logs snippets to show you PC was sleeping and waking on a cycle that did not appear to be related to NextPVR
