"Listed in priority order" in Scheduler Recurring - meaning of Priority

Hi,

In the Scheduler, in the Recurring section, the up and down arrows exist for setting the priority order.

Are these meant to solve tie-breakers or something different? 
If so, what kind of ties?

There are usually more shows on then you have tuners. If two shows conflict for a tuner at recording time the priority show will be recorded.
