Hi,

Is there any way of increasing how many files are used for log retention? I am happy for the files to be bigger and/or there be more of them.

Today I found that a show did not seem to record properly. Unfortunately the logs are full of FFMPEG related log points (which I am happy to have) but the shear volume of them has meant any logs around when the show was recorded are gone.

The logs on my HDHomerun suggest that the recordings started and stopped at the correct time so something went wrong and I would like to work out what.

I know there are posts here about turning down the log level but I would rather capture DEBUG level and just have a bit more history.

Anyone know if there is something that could be done with the XML config, even if it was temporary whilst I investigate this issue.

I too think it would be helpful to have the option to have more log files before rollover occurs as some errors do fill the logs before I find out an error has occurred.

Sub has been asked to consider this option before however (understandably), he has worked on higher priority bug fixes and other more critical program improvements.

The biggest issue I see is the 2MB forum limit for zipped logs. How much are you guys going to give sub to cover his monthly hosting costs?

If the HDHR logs show good starting and stopping times I actually don't expect the logs would tell use much about what is going wrong with source quality which I assume is the problem causing a bad input or timing file. Where they might help is if you do an OTA guide update during a recording (but that would show in the HDHR log too).

Martin,

For me the "option" to have more logs before rollover would be something for the more technical user (i.e those of us who actually want to trawl through logs to look at a problem.)

I would not suggest it as a common setting to change and would hope the current log zip function could be configured to select only the most recent few logs by default.

I'm sure those of us who would use this would be able to manually zip the relevant logs when required (and respect the 2mb limitation)

In my case, I've setup a backup programme to save the logs at regular intervals to help avoid the rollover challenge deleting relevant logs.
