I have had issues for years with LAV filters decoders losing sync between the audio and video. I have recently been experimenting with Kodi as a front end and the Inputstream FFmpeg Direct codec that it uses seems far superior for .ts playback. Is there a way to use that decoder in NextPVR front end? My wife has trouble reading the text in Kodi’s gui and prefers the text size in NextPVR.

What is really happening in Kodi is using the same transcoded h264/aac m3u8 stream that the web player plays. It is not inputstream.ffmpegdirect doing any magic that is just the only way Kodi PVR can play m3u8 files. If your main problem is recordings try post processing.

Assuming you are using 7.0.3 (which did have some sync improvements for NextPVR.exe) and you have problem, I have found yauicleint does have much better a/v and subtitle sync than NextPVR.exe

You didn't say in direct play in Kodi had a/v sync issues if it doesn't maybe try KNEWC

I like the Yauiclient. How do you change the size and location of the subtitles?

Some subtitles are graphical an have forced locations so they move with the speaker and cant be change. If I they can float there are lots of options if you search the subtitle options in a program called MPV which is the player library used. The location of mpv.conf is in .yauiclent folder in the user directory.

If you are playing around testing it probably will be easier to figure it out in MPV first.

There isn’t an mpv.conf file in the .yauiclient Folder.

Right you need to create the folder and the file.

@dlindyds, I know it wasn't your question, but this is interesting in and of itself. Any chance you've also tested Inputstream FFmpeg Adaptive in Kodi? If so, do you know whether you've gotten A/V sync issues with Adaptive versus Direct? If so, that'd be very useful information to have, as I've been trying to narrow down some A/V sync issues in Kodi myself.

I have never used adaptive and I have never had any issues with playback in Kodi. My issues were.with NextPVR front end.

The main issue I have is that I’m about 40 miles from the TV towers. I get a great signal 98% of the time, but I get a little interference here and there and it knocks my audio out of sync. The transcoding seems to smooth out the bumps while playing through Kodi so rather than my A/V going out of sync I see a little green blob for a second or two.
