I had an ISP DSL Outage for about 4 days.

When I tried to switch a program in the Client's TV Guide to Live TV it basically got stuck and froze same when I clicked on "Live TV".

Thought maybe the program was corrupted since I thought Live TV came from the TV Tuner card in my PC and not the Internet.  So I used the NPVR Setup installation .exe file to reinstall it but forgot it needs an internet connection to download the latest version .exe file and I had a older version downloaded of NPVR.exe file on my drive.

Live TV did work in Firefox NPVR web app though but not in the client.

Today I got my DSL Broadband working again and now NextPVR Live TV is working normally again. A little slow to start but works fine.

KODI was working normally as far as recording TV shows and playing the recordings except with KODI Extensions that requires a Internet connection to work.

So I was just curious as to why "Live TV" stopped working in the NextPVR Client when i lost my Broadband connection.

Not a big deal.

How long where you waiting? I am going to assume NextPVR is just doing what it is told and you have the default art downloading enabled. For each of the artwork sources that you have defined on the settings page there is a timeout of 15 seconds for a DNS lookup so over a minute to load would be expected. A truly fresh install would make thing worse because it removes any cached art you add. There might even be a sixth hidden artwork source if you XMLTV provides art.

I expect the best workaround would have been to go to web settings and untickiall artwork source. For testing to confirm this you can duplicate this by unplugging your router from the Internet and seeing that NextPVR.exe will work.

When I clicked to view a TV show from the TV Guide or use "Live TV" the "Please Wait" was showing which is normal but that was it. Nothing else happened for over 5 minutes.

I just checked my Web App and I do have Artwork Sources enabled. So as you suggested it was trying to download for the Artwork Sources and couldn't.

Maybe it can be programmed to check to see if there is a internet connection and if none than to bypass Artwork Sources so that Live TV can play.

I will test it out in the future.

Five minutes seems too long, I think there is a better explanation which we might find in the test.
