I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer to my question, hoping someone can help.

I need the recordings to be a video file only, NOT housed in a folder. My NAS cannot see the video file if its in a folder. Can i set the recordings to just save a video file and that's it?

How do i do this?

TIA,

TJ

It's not entirely clear if you're asking what I think you're asking.

If you set <AutoCreateFolders> to false in config.xml, it'll record directly into your recording folder, and won't create a subdirectory.

Amazing, that is exactly what i wanted. Maybe that should be a simple check box rather than having to go into the code.
Thank you, very much appreciated.

Great

Now that you've looked in the config.xml and seen how many settings there are behind the scenes, I'm sure you can imagine the crazy busy UI we'd have if we had settings for them all in the web app. In my experience, most people like to keep their recordings organised into folders. We prefer the cleaner UI and only present the commonly used setting.

I've occasionally thought about writing a custom config.xml viewer/editor.

I expect most people rarely (if ever) change anything and what they do change is done with the current web ui but over the years in the distant past I've found interesting entries in there when poking about. Maybe I'll look into it.

Cheers,
Brian

@sub, I didn't realize that one could dispense with the folders and just show all the recorded programs. This is potentially very nice. If we set AutoCreateFolders to False, by what order do the recorded programs then show up on the list? And is it possible to change the sort criteria?

Be careful when you post to specify the client. On NextPVR.exe and UI clients it is either via the hidden menu or directly using Ctrl-S or stop as shown on the keyboard reference which you know about https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid605351 Am I asking too much for you to check before posting?

Note typically the filenaming has nothing to do with the filesystem name though since you are brrowing in database order , but NextPVR.exe is a bit weak with Season and Episode order.

Martin, I would check before posting if I knew that it was there to be checked for, hence my question. Smile

By way of explanation, I suspect that the really serious, heavy-duty NPVR testing won't take place until wife starts using it. She uses WMC a degree of magnitude more intensely than I do and is vastly more familiar with its interface. Me, I'm just technical support staff, and everything that I've been doing with NPVR for her amounts basically to POC so that we have something viable in place when Verizon sunsets our CableCARDs.
