Kodi 21 / pvr.nextpvr 21.3.2.1 – Live TV stops after 30–60 minutes, HTTP range error

Hello,
I am experiencing recurring Live TV playback interruptions when using the NextPVR PVR client in Kodi.

My setup:

• NextPVR Server: 7.1.1.260616
  
• NextPVR running in Docker on a Synology NAS
  
• Kodi 21 with pvr.nextpvr 21.3.2.1
  
• IPTV channels configured in NextPVR
  
• Kodi and NextPVR are connected over the local network
  

The problem:
Live TV playback works normally for approximately 30–60 minutes, then suddenly stops and Kodi returns to the channel guide.
The issue occurs with different IPTV sources, not just one channel. Playback through the NextPVR web player appears stable.

Tests already performed:
I tested different NextPVR Live TV buffer settings:

Buffer size       Approximate playback duration

20 minutes      28–30 minutes
60 minutes      40 minutes
120 minutes    55–60 minutes

I also tested the Kodi NextPVR client's Real Time and Timeshift playback methods.
For the latest test:

• Live TV method: Timeshift
  
• Direct Streams: Disabled
  
• NextPVR Live TV buffer: 120 minutes

Unfortunately, the problem still occurs.

Relevant log messages:

The NextPVR logs show messages including:

stream@2 got zero bytes client disconnected Live stream expired without 15 second renewal.

After the stream disconnects, Kodi attempts to reconnect using an HTTP byte-range request, but playback cannot recover.

My questions:

1. Is this a known issue with the Kodi NextPVR client or NextPVR's Live TV streaming?
   
2. Could the HTTP range/reconnect behavior be responsible for the playback stopping?
   
3. Is there a recommended fix or workaround?
   

I have attached sanitized Kodi and NextPVR logs from the latest playback failure. Sensitive URLs, credentials, network addresses and identifiers have been redacted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A bit of cleanup for the future.

- Kodi problems should be in the Kodi sub-forum here https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=13
- As documented I need Kodi debug logs, the default are useless.
- You probably need to set the timezone in Docker to log the correct time.

The lease expires but Kodi sends the lease every 7 seconds and your Kodi log level or the redactions doesn't show any logging to help figure out what might be going on to block the API calls.

It is not generic CE problem, I use it all the time.

Thank you for your reply.
I have now enabled Kodi debug logging and temporarily disabled TMDb Helper.
The problem occurred again. I have attached new sanitized Kodi debug and NextPVR logs from the same playback failure.
The last successful

request appears at approximately 16:29:38 Kodi time (14:29:38 UTC). Shortly afterwards, the stream disconnects and the lease expires.
The NextPVR Docker container uses UTC, while Kodi uses CEST (UTC+2). Both clocks appear to be synchronized.
Could you please check why the Kodi NextPVR client stops sending the lease requests?

If you set the Docker environment TZ to yours the times will match.

I changed my mind about the problem Kodi is disconnecting so it could be your source is slow

and it just plays the buffer. The only thing I can suggest is PM me the URL to DE: Jukebox HD and I will see if I can duplicate it.

Hi Martin,
unfortunately I can't send the direct Jukebox HD URL because the IPTV credentials are embedded in it.

I can however run additional tests on my NextPVR server if that helps. For example, I can monitor the IPTV stream directly on the server for an extended period to see whether the source stops delivering data or the transfer rate drops when the Kodi client disconnects.

The interesting part is that I have seen the same Kodi playback problem with multiple IPTV sources, while playback through NextPVR itself appears to be stable.

If there is any additional debug logging or specific test you would like me to run, please let me know.

I expected it would have the credentials like most IPTV but that is the only way to find the problem.

Other than maybe edit config.xml and set this to true.
