Honestly, I don't see why this is needed. GB-PVR is the only application you're really going to be using at one time. If your CPU isn't hefty enough to play MPEGs, upping the priority won't make a difference. (And this is from the guy who wanted the RecordingService priority set to high in the first place).

If you really want to see the effects of this, just open the task manager, and right click on the GBPVR.exe process. It's a user process so you can change the priority in the task manager.

I have two monitors ... Primary is a 15" LCD and secondary is a big TV. I run GBPVR on the secondary (TV) and do often run other things on the primary.

I also have other apps such as a BitTorrent client running under another user on the machine.

I'd like GBPVR to always be the highest priority.

I've changed the priority using task manager, was just looking for a simple way to make it permanent.

Did you try the suggestion in the thread I mentioned previously? I haven't tried it myself, so I can't say whether it works or not, but it looks right enough to me :-)

Yep thanks Stefan, it works...

However I use ultramon to start GBPVR on the secondary screen, and that's causing a bit problematic when using a batch file ..

However I'm on the road, thanks again.

Aha, I knew I wasn't crazy and that this was a threading problem. I'm glad the fix is in the new release, no more skipping in my recorded shows, hopefully.

There was no threading problem, and as such no fix. I did add an optional 'run at high prority' feature because some people asked for it, but I wouldnt personally use it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was a threading problem. It was just the lack of an option to allow the recording service to run at a higher priority, like you said. I chose the wrong words, not a fix but the addition of the option. I apologize. The run at high priority option will be a godsend for me because I have always had problems with the shows skipping when I use my computer while a show is recording. Now I hopefully won't have to worry about skipping when I use the PC. Thanks for adding the option.

I just want to report that I've had a chance to test this more thorougly, and I can successfully use the computer at high CPU settings with the change in config.xml and recording works flawlessly. The "Above Normal" process priority is very adequate with no visible recording flaws. (Before I was getting visible and audible recording glitches with my Sempron 2400+/PVR-150 setup every 10-15 seconds or so. )

I too have been running this for a few days and the only difference is that I sometimes notice a DOS box appear, I think as it changes channel (I run a .exe program to change channels). This is especially the case going from a GBPVR screen to TV (either LiveTV or using "watch" option).
