I was just getting ready to ask that myself... I am wanting to test gbpvr on my primary desktop machine with one of these before moving it to my HTPC box... I'm experimenting with it right now so if I find out I'll let you know too.
aint lookin too good......... it's as I feared... gbpvr uses cards with hardware encoding only. So in your case, pick up a hauppage card like the PVR150 or 250... In my case, looks like I gotta do my testing on my sagetv box.

Wow, this is getting confusing! I am about to install my ATI TV Wonder Elite which has some sort of MPEG2 encoder. I posted a few questions about it a week or so ago and all indications for that card was that it should work good as-is. Although someone had reported getting some motion artifacts. I wonder if the more recent Elite is any different than the previous ATI cards.

ATI's naming scheme is so totally messed.
Some cards have partial hardware mpeg-2 encoding, and some do not. Some will do avi as well as mpg, some will not. It's my understanding that the "Elite" is a hardware mpeg-2 encoder card, but don't quote me on that.

Ok, I won't quote you. Geez, one day I feel comfortable about installing my ati elite, and the next day I am breaking into a cold sweat again. I'm just hoping to install the card and then install GBPVR and have everything working. The box just says "MPEG - 2 Encoding.

I would pick up a hauppauge card. EVERYONE supports those.

I didn't know about GBPVR prior to getting the card. But since the ATI TV Wonder Elite uses the Theater 550 Pro Video Processor, I am assuming that it is supported, right? Also, from reading past threads (see quote below) it seems that there shouldn't be any problems. Oh, BTW, I got the Elite (retail about $145.00) FREE from Dell when I complained to them that it should have been included with the Media Center Edition Computer I bought from them. So thats how I ended up with that card. And Kanati is right, reboot, don't rub it in. LOL

Followup - I just checked the box carefully and it says the ATI TV Wonder Elite has Full Hardware MPEG 2 Compression. So with that, and combined with its Theater 550 Pro Prcessor, I am feeling a little more confident that it will work with GBPVR. I think these Elite cards are built differently than the previoius ATI pvr cards. Any one else have any thing add to help build my confidence before I open the package?
