I've recently tried GB-PVR and I think it's a great program. I have an ATI TV Wonder Elite, and have to say, with the most recent version, it works great.
I was wondering though, if some features could be added which would make it much more attractive to me and many more users...
First of all, I would like to say, I understand the concept of GB-PVR so these features may not be appropriate for GB-PVR in itself but rather a seperate spin-off program.
The basic idea behind these features is to make the program more friendly for those who want to also use it as their complete capture solution.
By this I mean, having a capture mode which gives quick adjustments and profiles to source, resolutions, bitrates, codecs, etc, and also include a frame drop counter.
This would essentially be a 'virtualdub capture mode' with one BIG difference; it would properly handle all of the currently supported cards, aka hardware mpeg-2 capture, with the choice of doing software capture to a codec if the user deems necessary.
This mode would also not concentrate on an EPG, simply let you choose the source (and channel) and settings and let you capture, reporting the status.
Adding quick edit tools to chop / split / edit out commercials after capture would be excellent but not necessary.
I suggest this because I think it would be a great addition to GB-PVR, a quick capture mode if you so choose to use your XBox, VCR, Camcorder etc and because this damn TV Wonder Elite I have, has been out for a year now and ATI has moved from a great, capable tv application to a micky mouse piece of crap called Cyberlink PowerEnema, stripping the user of the most crucial functions when capturing.
Believe you me, if this mode was implemented, GB-PVR would attract many many more users and spread like wildfire for those who own this ATI card.
What do you guys think?
