GB-PVR with S-Video-In on Radeon

I must not be seeing the forest for the trees, but I can't find any information about running GB-PVR without a tuner card, using instead an S-Video-In connection on a tuner-less card. I have an HIS Radeon X800 card with Video-In and Video-Out, and can view and record TV from my satellite STB using the ATI Multimedia Center software. I was hoping to control the STB using an UIRT from *some* PVR software, but so far GB-PVR, MediaPortal, and Windows MCE all seem to be somewhat oblivious to this whole realm, certainly in terms of supported hardware.

I am puzzled by this disconnect between tuner-based approaches and STB-based approaches (and I am not talking about HDTV at all here) -- is there a reason for this tuner-centricity? If anyone could shed some light, primarily on this whole general topic, I would be much obliged.

You can use the svideo/composite ports on supported cards. Infact this is what I do on my main room setup, with Actisys IR-200L blaster for changing channels on the set top cable box.

Unfortunately for you though, the Radeon VIVO or AIW are not supported by GB-PVR. GB-PVR is designed for cards with onboard hardware MPEG2 encoders, which is feature missing from your card.
