Dear all,

how's this? Difficult to imagine I know until all is revealed but we're still tweaking!

Imagine a boiled down version of NPVR on a homepage, there is a separate section for 'features' that can provide more detail, just looking for a kind of bullet points in sentences..... Anything missed? (thanks gEd for initial feedback and a very well constructed blurb!)

cheers

Steeb

NextPVR is a free Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and Media Centre application for Microsoft Windows. Watch Live TV or schedule to record and playback your TV Recordings (with multi-record function from a single tuner card). All supported by a wide variety of tuners and current international broadcast standards.

Relax with a DVD or play back your music, videos and photos stored on your PC or on other devices over your home network.

With support for multiple clients (including thin client devices such as the Popcorn hour) distribute your media experience around the home. You even get a web interface so that you can schedule and stream media when you are away from home using a PC or a suitable mobile device.

Extend your experience with an increasing range of plugins that provide additional features such as weather, internet radio and RSS Reader. Also change the look and feel of NextPVR with the supported skins.

NextPVR is developed by Sub. You will find him on the forum where he is joined and supported by an active and friendly community.

In fact I was going to edit that last post but I just saw I was at 1300 posts could be lucky, could be unlucky! (and for the spammer thread viewers I can't think of a song about 1300, well not in a rush anyway Big Grin )

think we could lose the end sentence first paragraph as well? (as I noted all this good stuff that is missing can go into the features which is slightly more detailed:

the phrase "You even get..." is pedantic, and smacks of infomercial-speak (informecials are unconcerned with being pedantic).

Sometimes I wonder why I bother doing this doccy stuff, then I realise it is actually fun, particularly when I see your avatar :p

Steeb

How's this:

With support for multiple clients (including thin client devices such as the Popcorn hour) distribute your media experience around the home. Away from home you can use the web interface to schedule and stream media using a PC or a suitable mobile device.

Yeah - shopping channel stuff like "... as well", "Also ...", "Not only ...", etc should be avoided.

johnstonx42 actually needs two different avatars - one for when he is being a moderator and another for when he is being a pedant...:p

Actually there is more (from me). I think you were right to suggest that we loose the end of the first sentence about multi-tuners. It is going into specifics too early when we are still trying to describe the basics.

(It's not easy, is it.)

'NextPVR is a free Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and Media Centre application for Microsoft Windows. At its heart lies the Electronic Programme Guide from where you can watch (and pause) live TV and schedule your favorite shows for later viewing.

Relax with a DVD or play back your music, videos and photos stored on your PC or on other devices across your home network.

With support for multiple clients (including thin client devices such as the Popcorn hour) you can distribute your media experience around the home. Away from home you can use the web interface to schedule and stream media using a PC or a suitable mobile device.
