Great.

Vista's file protection was getting in the way. Config.exe was seeing a version of the database that had channels. PVRX2.exe was seeing a version of the database without any channels.

sub - starting yesterday, I have also been having some problems with getting the EPG working in GBPVR. The mc2xml has been working fine/retrieving data as expected for the past 1.5 months or so since I upgraded to 1.2.13 and TVGuide was also importing the data properly. However, yesterday, when I did an UpdateEPG from GBPVRTrayIcon, it started exhibiting some strange behavior. The channels are listed in incorrect order. Going through the logs (copy attached), it looks like the information is being imported from the mc2xml generated XML file, but the order of the channels seems to be messed up. It seems to show channels 2-80 (mapped to HVR analog side), then the digital channels 3xx-7xx as mapped in the HVR 1600 digital side, but then for some reason it lists channels 56-80 again in the TV Guide. Moreover, TV Guide shows "no show data" as shown in the attached image.

In summary, not sure why it lists certain channels twice and why it shows "no show data" in the TV guide when the guide seems to indicate it was able to import data successfully.

Would appreciate any help to fix this.

BTW, I am using GBPVR 1.2.13 on WinXP MCE 2005 with all the WinXP updates (except SP3) and the most recent version of .Net (3.0 or 3.5?)

Thanks,
-Topper

It sounds like your channel names have changed at some stage, or you've changed EPG sources at some time. If the names have changed, even slightly, it'll think they're new channels.

Easiest fix (for me at least Big Grin) is probably to backup your recordings-dump.xml, delete the gbpvr.db3 file, start the config app and recreate your capture sources from scratch, then reimport the recordings from recordings-dump.xml.

Is this why it shows the "no show details" in TV Guide?

I'm guessing this means I'll have to also re-do the scanning/re-mapping on the digital/QAM side and re-add my scheduled recordings? Sad

Just want to confirm if there was any way to avoid scanning the QAM channel as it takes forever - but if there isnt any other alternative, then might have to suck it up and do it.

Its a common cause of duplicate channels, with the later set having listings, but the first set not. The first set are those the user first sees in the config app.

Yes to the mapping, but only a 'maybe' on rescheduling the recordings - depends if the channels names have changed.

You could also try using this batch file...

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG#toc40

It's quite good at straightening out a lot of channel lineups

But as sub said, back up you gbpvr.xml and recordingdump.xml (although the batch file does that for you, you might want to be sure)

sub - so I tried this last night and created the sources from scratch, remapped, etc. Took few hours (doing other things at the same time + the QAM scan took almost half hour as expected) but at the end of it, got all my listings back. Then this morning, turned on the GBPVR box again before heading to work and scheduled some recordings. Everything looked normal.

After coming back from work when I turned on the GBPVR server again and ran PVRX2 again, I again got the "no show details" Sad

Thoughts (have attached logs as well)?

Do you have the duplicate channel names again?

I dont see any channels listed twice in the TV Guide.

In Config app as well, I also looked at the channel list under each source:
Analog side has channels 2-80
QAM side has only the digital QAM channels - all the analog/unused digital channels have been unchecked.

Edit: If it helps any, I just tried going into the search section and am able to search and schedule recordings just fine (see attached)

Thanks,
