Thanks for the heads up on having to restart the browser; it must be an issue with the browser caching the page and not really reloading it as it should (every time you visit stream.aspx the settings are loaded fresh). I'll try to patch it up for next time.

A_Brass, and those of you having issues in MSIE with the embedded player, I suspect the issue might be your settings for ActiveX Controls; for instance I know that I have IE set up to block activex to keep it nice and secure in the rare chance that I use it. Please try:

Go to Tools --> Internet Options. Go to the Security tab, hit Trusted Sites, and then click on the Sites button. Make sure the "Require server verification" is unchecked, and add your GBPVR machine to the list. For instance, you would need to do something like:

http://192.168.1.10:7647 (or whatever your IP and webadmin port are)

This should allow your GBPVR pages to use all the ActiveX they want without restrictions; I suspect this has been the reason it's not working.

My issue seems a little more extream than just needing to restart the browser.

Note: This pertains to both IE and FireFox....

If I load the v80 streamer and then access a stream (using the defaults that are in the build) I get video and no sound on both plugins as well as the native VLC player.

When I change a setting in either browser (i.e. changing the mux to mpeg-ts or any other setting) then when I try to stream nothing plays. Again in both browsers and native VLC.

Restarting the browsers does nothing, restarting the recording service on the server does nothing.

However if I reinstall the v80 files again (and do not restart anything) magically it starts to work again....but without sound.

What I have done for now that has allowed this to work for me is to install v80....manually edit the mux setting to ts and then access the streamer....magically streaming is again working with sound.

I just noticed that the default XML that was in the zip had ASF set as the mux, when I intended it to be MPEG TS (ts), so I've updated the zip file with that as the default..

I'm really perplexed by your problem with no video or audio, especially in VLC Media Player itself. If you could, can you install v80 fresh, change the mux to MPEG TS, and if it isn't working post the XML file so I can take a look? I'm really not sure why it's behaving like this, but the XML might shed some light.

Seems to working fine.....not sure waht was going on....I was able to duplicate it time and time again.

Looks like we are in good shape now though....

sooo... i suppose the next to-do is custom bitrate and resolution settings.. or do you guys think there's somethin else that should be done first?

The most important fix would be to just list recordings that actually exist.

I have a number of shows of scheduled recordings and the present list shows deleted shows from a long time ago and future recordings that I don't have. I simply cannot find anything that I actually have to be able to use this for anything other than testing to be honest.

IMHO, this should be the first fix before tinkering with bitrates etc. I would also like the checkbox for the external player at the top rather than having to scroll to the bottom to make that choice then back up to find the thing to play.

What about integrating this into the current 'play' functionality in the web admin. Maybe when you click play it can send you to the bitrate page. That way you would not have to fix anything, and just depend on the existing pages to send the user to the streaming page, where they can pick bitrate, etc.

Custom bitrates would be nice, but just adding a few more more would be enough. 512 is great but my connection can manage a little bit better 700 or 600 would be great. The spawning option and player selection at the top or on the settings screen would be nice.

I would really like to see the ability to stream all audio video files in the video library, not just recordings. Replacing the standard web admin play options would be nice too.

Didn't I see a post that said work on intergration into the web admin was on a to-do list?

Are you still having the recording problem with the newest version? (v.80) .. it should only show available recordings now; it's simply getting these from the GBPVR API functions.. also, which version of GBPVR are you running?

But I think normanr is probably right, I feel like this is mature enough now to begin integrating into Enhanced Web Admin... and hitting Play from the regular webadmin would bring up a window to choose the bitrate, as well as a link to bring up the streaming settings.. even now, the core of the streaming code needs just the recording OID.. so we could then have a truly "integrated" streaming solution.

I like that idea.....it would also give you all of your choices for the recoding in one place.....Play (for those that do not want to use real streaming, download for those that want to download the video and stream for streaming.

After selecting stream from the recordings page you could go to a pop-up that would just be focused on that recording....like what occurs when you schedule a recording from the guide.....from there you could select your bitrate, player and plugin or native options....along with anything else that may come up.

Exactly what I had in mind.

I want to first finish up a few things and make sure all the major issues are resolved, then we can get in touch to integrate it all together.
