Can one of the ATI HDTV Wonder owners tell me whether the old manual T:xx,xx,xx method still works for you with the newest patches?

I suspect this device is going to have to live without scanning for the near future, but I'd like to know that the old method is still working (as well as it used to).

If you installed latest patches on mine, then yes...it still works. Is there a temporary fix for recording?

If you have to use this old T:xx,xx,xx method, then your ability to record is at the mercy of the Microsoft 'BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter' and/or ATI drivers, the same as it as been with past GB-PVR releases. Lots of users were fine with this old scheme, but some had endless problems. (we should have done a poll - they were probably all ATI HDTV Wonder users)

I have the HDTV Wonder and yes, the old method works fine for me. I actually prefer it. I've used other programs including Windows XP Media Center (I use it one of my other systems) and none of them do channel scanning perfectly. I just as set it up myself.

I am, however, having problems with recording since upgrading to 98.8b. 96.12 was working fine and I'm considering moving back to that. I'm getting the small file problem that others have mentioned - it will create one file with the episode name and one with the generic file name - both 6 kb.

If any of you HDTV Wonder users get really keen, you can always try manually entering the full tuning request in the following format:

T:48,34,1~P:3~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~N:>34.1 WUVG DT (spa)

Where:

P = Program #
V = Video PID
A = Audio PID
PMT = PMT PID
N = A unique name for the channel (anything can be used)

This will give you the benefits of the new tv and recording logic, but without having to go through a scan. The down side is that you'll need to do a lot more work to get all this info.

From what I've seen of the HDTV Wonder, I'd say it is probably more at fault than these other apps.

I know the card hasn't been the easiest to work with but it was the first after all - my Avermedia card isn't all that much better. Will the manual tuning method you suggest help with the recording problems?

Yes, I'd hope so. It has for all the others that used the patches. The scanning does exactly same thing as manually keying it in, but takes the hard work out of finding the info.
