No, you're right, I hadn't been keeping up!

So my final votes would be for bitrates to be somewhat more granular, increments of 128kbps or even 64kbps and how about when the user changes the player choice for the appropriate changes to be made in stream.xml to match that choice?

Also, please keep the choice of player as chosen in the web page, it would save having to scroll to the bottom, check external, change to wmp if chosen.

Is there any way you can deal with the modal dialog box that reminds us to close the window? If I save the stream to the desktop for example, the web page obscures the desktop.

Great piece of work though Smile

Thanks
David.

ah, i hadn't thought about that.. i envisioned people just clicking on the link and just launching WMP or VLC on-the-fly instead of saving the stream link. Sure, I can just replace the dialog box with a small popup window that would serve the same purpose, but wouldn't be modal.

sgilani, I just wanted to say that this plugin is fantastic!

I share David's suggested improvements and I'm very much looking forward to seeing it integrated into EWA.

Any chance that we will be able to stream a recording in progress as well?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,

Thanks for the kind words; without all of you giving me feedback and suggestions this wouldn't be possible.

Yeah, I've been thinking about in progress recordings.. i'll give it a try.

should inprogess recordings just be a slightly different filter on the recordings list? i.e. show complete & in progress?

Right, assuming it's feasible I would separate out the completed and in-progress recordings.

i'm tired and lazy right now, do you know what integer represents in-progress as the Status value? (e.g. completed recordings have a status of 2)

hmm.. I *suppose* if in progress recordings work, then the timeshifting TV buffer file can also be streamed, but that's a bit unstable since a channel change would break it as the buffer file would change. Not that I can't detect the new file, but not sure if it's worth the hassle.

If in progress recordings are possible then we are only a short step away from timeshift based live TV over the net. This would be something else!

Keep up the good work Sgilani, this plugin is fantastic and i'm happy to say i've ditched orb completely Big Grin

yeh - this is what I am on about !

By "in progress", I was specifically refering to streaming a program that is currently being recorded, rather than the actual live tv buffer.

It is no hassle (for me) to recording a show that you want to stream and it should be easier to implement that trying to grab the live tv buffer. EWA already supports this but the stream ends at the point at which you started watching it, rather than picking up the subsequent data.

btw: Does anyone know if there is a combo of player/filters that gives you the ability to skip forwards and backwards through the recording - with audio?

Cheers

John

With the embedded player, there are experimental forward and backward seek controls. This is mainly a hack, since by definition you can't seek within a stream (it's a stream after all, lol).. but what these buttons do is send a command back to the server that then instruct the VLC streaming client to seek forward and backward.. thereby effectively seeking to another position.

It would be impossible to do if youre just using VLC Media Player or WMP, it's only possible through the web interface.
