johnsonx42,
Thanks for the backgroung on this limitation.
Does that (Silverlight) constraint also apply to the New-External-App-Netflix-Viewer ? (( I have been trying to get that one working too, but I didn't see Silverlight mentioned as one of the requirements - better go there and check myself))
Thx,

Netflix is all Silverlight now so neither app will work on the NMT. Before Netflix used Silverlight, you could use the old app to download the movies (but they could not play due to the DRM) but that's not possible with the Silverlight streams.

You should however be able to use StreamIt to see what is available.

Should the NMT ever support Netflix natively, I'll work with Martin to make the plugin launch the NMT's native player from the plugin. But there's nothing Martin or I can do until then.

Hi,

Just got NPVR going and installed your plugin -- having issues and I think its because I'm a Canadian Netflix user. Do you or do you have any plans to support we Canadians?

Steve,

I'm a USA user, but it would be appreciated if you'd be so kind as to describe details of "issues" you're having running this as NPVR plugin as I'm headed toward NPVR soon.

Are you doing this only on your PC?

whurlston,

Do you have any idea when or if you'll be fixing and finishing this plugin? I hate to bug you at all for free software, but the status of this plugin does affect the usefullness of NPVR for north american users. Should I just give up on StreamIT and implement dhgb256's Netflix viewer as an external task? I'd much prefer to have an integrated plugin, but if it's just never going to happen I think all US and now Canadian users would like to know.

Funny you should ask that today. I demo'd the work project that has been eating up all my time yesterday. I'm making it live tonight and getting back to work on NPVR projects starting this weekend. My priorities are:

StreamIt (will include an option to launch dhgb256's Netflix viewer externally)
Disc Insert Notifications (displays a popup when you insert a DVD/BD disc giving you the option to play or rip the disc).
CableCard tuner bridge to MCE.

I'll be releasing small incremental updates to StreamIt so not everything we have discussed will be available right away but we'll get there. I figure it's better to see some progress quickly.

Canadian users are definitely in the plans. It seems that the selections for Canadians are different from those available here in the US. I'll see what I can do about differentiating them.

Other than that, what issues are you experiencing?

I'll share logs tonight when I get home but... I installed the plugin but I only have a blank "Netflix" page... its not loading the dB. I assumed this is due to it expecting me to have a US Netflix account and the Canadian one wouldn't load. Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong as this is the first time I've tried this plugin.

I have 2 PCH NMTs but understand from the threads above that this will only work on the computer and not the NMTsss. Unfortunate but understandable...

Will send logs

Ok, its possible that I'm doing this wrong but... when I run StreamIt.Netflix.Updater, I get the attached screen. Which log files should be uploaded?
