Show Title - s**e** - Episode Name

It is doing the title and episode correctly, but can it also add in the season number and episode number? If it could, this application would be absolutely perfect.

Thanks to all who know more than me and coded these plugins!
I am doing this for my shows that I keep. What I do is I open up the main database, sort by show name, scroll down to the episode. I then manually add the episode number to the show subtitle. Then when the show is done recording, renamerecordings will rename it to what I wanted. You can add the episode number many days ahead of time, and it doesn't get wiped out.

BTW I am using ZAP2IT.

What is the main database? Is it the xml file that configures recordingsmanager, or does it come from zap2it? What is the file name of that file?

I was really trying to get it to do this automatically, does anyone know if that is possible?

thanks!

gbpvr.mdb

I don't think it could be done automatically, since it might not be available for each show, and might be different standards. I actually enjoy going into the database to see what is coming up, and adding in the numbers. It help me plan what episodes will go on each disk.

Another manual way would be to wait until each show records, then export the recordings XML file, manually edit the XML file, and the file name, and import it.

Either way works, the first is easier, the second is probably more "Officialy Supported". And I guess if you screw up, you can bugger it up pretty good either way, especially manually opening the database.

If you feel adventurous , open up gbpvr.mdb, then open the table "Programme" click on an item in the "name" column, then click on sort a-z. Once it sorts, scroll down through until you get to the show name you are interested in. The next column "sub_title" has the episode name that rename recordings uses. just click on one, hit <F2>, then <Home>, then type in "101 - " or whatever, and once it records you will be set. You can also rename a show that has already recorded that way. If a show doesn't have a sub_title, you can manually enter one.

Would someone please update the wiki with the latest version of this. Its a real pain to search through the 19+ pages of postings to find the executable link.

Thanks. Smile

I was hoping not to have to do it manually. As it is now, for those recordings I save, I manually change the name of the file to include the season and episode number. I have recording manager set up to output a file name like:

Las Vegas - sXXeXX - Viva Las Vegas

and I manually replace the XX's. It is easier to archive when they have this format, because the episodes are in the correct order. I am sure other people would like to have this feature. Does anyone have any idea how to implement it? Possibly with the ZapTools utility? Zap2it must be able to send that information, right?

thnx

Hi,

isnt it possible to change the Name in the visible Section of the Record Section
aswell ??

Actually he only renames the files in the folder and the reference to the new
name of the mpg file in the database.

i have attached 2 jpgs, which shows my actually recorded mpegs.

pic 1 - shows all records and the count how much episodes of one show is recorded
pic 2 - shows all episodes of one show - maybe here should the name changed too

Further i got an error while rename a episode which already exist (it was the 2nd part of it)
He renamed it correctly with the (2) at the end, but now its deleted out of the database and can
be only played directly out of the folder ...

THe Video Archive plugin shows that information much better, it will show each show with the actual filename or sub_title I think. I attached a crappy show of it. I manually added the episode number into each shows sub_title the database, then used renamerecordings.

The version of renamerecordings on the wiki is old and results in renamed recordings missing from gbpvr database. Where may I find the latest version? This forum contians many versions where the zip file is corrupt. Thanks

Well, this isn't the latest and greatest version, but I've been using my original version since February and haven't lost a recording yet. Every once in a while a recording doesn't get renamed but it doesn't loose the recordings.

It's fairly simple and straight forward just put it int he PostProcessing.bat file as:

renamerecording %1

Every zip file I attempt to download from a forum and open (using both XP built in support for .zip and WINZIP) will not open - corrupt zip file. Download from wiki is ok - problem with new server? anyone else have this problem?
